Asslam o alikum and hello to my all dear friends and #worldmappin cummunity members.
I am fine and I hope all my friends will be fine.
Some days in life leave a deep memory in our hearts. Today was one of those days for me. I decided to visit Kalabagh Dam with my close friend. Kalabagh Dam is located in Mianwali district of Punjab, Pakistan, on the Indus River. It is known for its natural beauty, high location, and historical importance.
The idea of Kalabagh Dam was first introduced in 1953. It was planned because of the increasing need for water and electricity in Pakistan. Work on the project started in the 1970s, and its design was completed in 1984. If the dam had been completed, it could have produced around 3600 megawatts of electricity and provided water for agriculture. But due to political and provincial disagreements, it could not be completed. Even today, the site holds great historical value and attracts people because of its beautiful natural views.
We planned to leave early in the morning at 8 o'clock. I had breakfast, called my friend, and we left on a bike. The road to the dam is about 28 kilometers from my village, and it passes through a beautiful hilly area. We stopped on the way to buy some snacks. The weather was nice and the scenery was amazing, with green hills and a clear blue sky.
On the way, we stopped near the Indus River. The sound of flowing water and the cool breeze made us feel peaceful. We spent some time there, took some pictures, and enjoyed the fresh air. After that, we continued towards the dam, which was about 2 kilometers away from there.
When we reached the high point of Kalabagh Dam, the view was truly beautiful. There was a shaded area with a large umbrella where we sat and enjoyed the surroundings. From there, we could clearly see the Indus River flowing between the mountains.
There is also old machinery present at the dam site. Although the dam was never completed, the machines are still there as a reminder of the project. We saw large valves, metal pipes, gears, and control systems. These machines were installed when the project was being planned and show how big and important the project was. They are not in use now but are interesting to see.
We had our food there, talked for a while, and enjoyed the peaceful environment.
As the evening started, we left for home. On the way back, the quietness of the hills, the cool wind, and the wide sky gave us a special feeling of peace. It felt like nature had embraced us. After reaching home, we rested for a while and later went for a walk with my friend.
Kalabagh Dam is a very special place for me. It is not just beautiful but also a symbol of Pakistan’s hope for progress. I visit this place every year to spend some time with myself, away from the busy life. Today was a special and unforgettable day, and its memory will stay in my heart forever.
I will invite all my #hive friends to come here and enjoy some moments of life. This is a very peaceful place and an excellent spot to relax and have fun.
