Hi,
this is a long walk in Jongno-gu (Jongno District) to visit the classic tourist attraction #Hanok Village in Bukchon, with houses preserved in the style of the Joseon Dynasty era (1392-1910), and the Insa-dong district and its restaurants and art galleries, the landmark Ssamzigil shopping mall, street performers, artisans and souvenir stores.
As we approach the ancient neighborhood, we begin to see the characteristic #Korean houses (Hanok).
Recent architecture gives way to the ancient scenery of #Korea.
#Bukchon (북촌한옥마을) is a residential neighborhood on the hill in the northern part of #Jongno and was not built for tourist purposes; some houses have been repurposed for #tourism, but it is renovated and preserved to show the style of the original houses in its wonderful narrow alleys in its innermost part.
As the neighborhood is a big hotspot but still residential, tourists keep quiet during the visit.
The beautiful characteristic Hanok roofs.
Bukchon ("north village") was in fact the residential neighborhood of government officials and nobility of the Joseon Dinasty era . The ruling class lived here, and some descendants of the aristocracy still live here today.
As you walk away, you appreciate the views of the ancient rooftops and the surrounding panorama from the hillside. In the background, the Royal Palace is visible
Hope you enjoyed this lovely place!
I will dedicate the next post to Insadong-gil.
Bye!
