I arrived Denmark full of hopes and dreams. Hoping to have a kind host family and to be able to help my family financially. Dreaming to travel and explore places ,to be out of my comfort zone and to know more about myself!
The little mermaid(Den lille havfrue)
A mermaid willing to give up her sea life to gain a human soul.
At first it wasn’t easy! Homesickness,I cried for 2 months missing my family way back home(as Ive mentioned on my previous post that it was my first time to be away from them) plus I was the 6th amongst the 7 siblings ,the youngest girl ,it feels like Im the babygirl of the family ,it makes me more missed home. A lot of adjustments as well, first the weather ,they have four seasons and Philly have only 2( mannn ilang sun sa summer until 11pm,galurat akong mata kay landag pa ghapon bsag 10pm na! meged!).
Second,the food ( dli jamo sila mokaon ug rice! Pamahaw nila bread or yogurt or cereals!) I was used to eat rice for breakfast but now it changed na! Naanad nko ! Gipaubaya nako ang rice ! Haha
Lastly their culture very much different from Pinas! They are famous for its bike culture, its liberal and open society. Anyone should have the right to think, speak, and believe in what they want. Mga buotan sila dli nimo ma feel nga e down ka! Oppss! Naa pa di ay language !! They talk like there’s a potato in their mouth! Sumakit ulo ko mga ka hivers!! Nosebleed but mostly Danes speak English so keri ra! Danes aren’t human cctv unlike ayyyyyy wag nalng hahaha at ang ganda ko dun!!! Dun ko na appreciate beauty ko! When I was in the Philippines where the standard of beauty is the color of your skin(peru di lahat ganun ha!) I dont appreciate my skin at all! Kasi nga nognog ako! When I was in Denmark ,they even got jealous of my skin color! As what they said “you’re lucky you don’t have to spend money to get tanned !!” Oh dzivaa!! Ganda ka gurl?! That made me realized to see more beauty of me(charoot) It helped me boost my self confidence, it helped me love myself more! I accepted all my flaws !I am not afraid to show my skin na! Kaya kayo jan wag nyo ikahiya kung nognog kayo! Woi ang ganda natin!!! Oo maganda ako dto peru wla tlaga akong nakitang afam!!! Hahah faets!!!
Living in Denmark I learned a lot, I learned to be more independent, I learned about their culture about life in general. Being an aupair is an eye opener for me As a matter of fact you are exposed to new things that you were not aware of, and you need to deal with them whether you like it or not. Often in a language that you don't know. I also help my parents in there financial needs and sending my little brother to university.
