Many of the best walks I've had were unplanned for and this right here was one of them. My friends know that for us to have a successful outing with me involved, we have to make plans months before the time and on the D-Day, I still have to be dragged out of the house. Crazy right? I know😅
A few Saturdays back, I went for the weekly sanitation at church and after that, we were to have a dance rehearsal for an upcoming event(we didn't dance in the end). During this process, I was texting one of my friends and he happened to be in the same vicinity with me.
He came over to church and after the dance rehearsal, we headed to his new work place(the workplace he eagerly wanted me to see) So he is a massage therapist and basically you find them in big hotels, private firms and places of that sort. He told me we were heading to his workplace but he didn't mention the name.
Few minutes later, we arrived at a hotel. I still didn't know the place because I rarely know places. He said the name of the hotel was "Villa Hilton Hotel" and it was about three months since they officially opened this branch.
I went on Google to research and I saw this:
One of the world's largest hotel brands?!! You should know what to expect. It was at that moment that I knew I was in a special place. Villa freaking Hilton.
We walked in through the gate and there were like ten military men with guns glaring at us. He was wearing his uniform so they allowed us to pass freely. I didn't even dare to take pictures at the gate because military men in my country are just something else(very insecure set of people).
A view of the yard from the spa
We walked inside the hotel and he took me to the spa area. It was really beautiful. We didn't spend much time there as he was working with time. From the spa, we used the back door and bursted at the reception.
The receptionist was actually rude if you ask me. My friend was supposed to have a meeting with his boss and so he tried making enquires but the receptionist was acting up. Such things get me pissed.
A view of the reception and waiting area
I waited for about 45 minutes in the waiting area. The meeting took less than 10 minutes and when he was done he took me to the pool area. This was the side where I got really fidgety and it was evident on my face. I was so uncomfortable here because all eyes were literally on us. Let me tell you why we got so much attention.
It's a grand hotel and everyone around the pool were either rich fellows in bikinis or rich fellows in suits. Bikini for those who wanted to swim and suits for those who came for a business meeting by the poolside. I was in a pair of jeans and a polo… no bikini and no suit. Even after we sat down, they were still looking… they made it seem like I had lost my way or something
I took a picture of the pool area. The attention was just too much so I asked to leave. Immediately we stepped out of the gate, my nerves relaxed. I concluded that the next time I'm going to Villa Hilton, it should be in my SUV.
The walk was amazing. The hotel had a great interior designer because the ambiance of the interiors really made people feel at home. From their light switch to their halls, everything was amazing. I didn't get the opportunity to see inside a room. I heard that a regular room goes for about $60 a night. I don't even want to imagine how much a VIP room would go for.
This is my entry into the Wednesday Walk, an initiative by . I hope you had as much fun as I did
With love, wongi ✨
