Tucked away along Agape Loay Interior Road, Xzootic Animal Park isn’t your typical wildlife attraction but it definitely left an impression. If you’re an animal lover, a curious traveler, or someone who enjoys stepping outside your comfort zone, this place deserves a spot on your Bohol itinerary.
From the moment I stepped in, I was struck by how up close visitors could get to the animals. Guides led us through enclosures where reptiles, birds, and mammals awaited not just to be watched from afar, but to be experienced. The Burmese pythons were the stars: large, powerful, and surprisingly calm as they rested and slithered in their space. Some guests were encouraged to touch or hold the snakes (only with supervision), which was honestly intimidating at first but a thrilling moment once I tried it.
Walking past the cages, I also saw owls with piercing eyes, colorful parrots chattering away, and a few crocodiles lazing in shaded water. The butterfly garden provided a gentle contrast: delicate wings fluttered around me as I tried to capture the perfect photo moment, and butterflies occasionally landed on my shoulder.
A Bit of History
Xzootic Animal Park began as a small sanctuary aimed at giving both locals and tourists a chance to learn about exotic animals up close. Over the years, it has become a hidden gem for travelers exploring Bohol beyond the usual tourist spots. While it’s not a large zoo, it offers a hands-on experience that many visitors won’t find elsewhere on the island.
Entrance Fee & Extra Costs
One of the most surprising things about this place is how affordable it is. The entrance fee is around ₱90–₱100 per person, which is incredibly budget friendly compared to other attractions.
Some visitors also mentioned that there may be additional small fees for specific experiences like close-up photos with animals or tips for guides. Souvenir items like shirts and keychains are available too, ranging in price depending on what you choose.
How to Get There
From Tagbilaran City:
Private car or motorbike: About 45 minutes to 1 hour of scenic driving through Bohol’s countryside.
Public transport: Take a bus or jeepney heading to Loboc and then a short tricycle ride to the park.
Tricycle from Panglao: You can also take a direct tricycle for convenience, though it might cost more depending on negotiation.
Whichever mode of transport you choose, plan to arrive during daylight hours so you can enjoy both the journey and the destination comfortably.
