Everything is within easy reach, although if you want to use the tram or the elevators, it is also a pleasant experience, these vehicles have been the same for 50 years and have a special charm, and also save you from climbing the steep streets that surround the centre of the Portuguese capital. One of the main arteries is the Rua do Carmo, a cobblestone pedestrian street that ascends from Rossio to the Chiado district. It is the shopping street par excellence and is bustling with life all day long.
