Bruges is a gorgeous medieval city located in the north east of Belgium, and the capitalcity of west flanders. Bruges is also a UNESCO world heritage city, and after you view all of this pictures you will probably understand why.
Bruges might be an unknown city for many, but it might also be one of the most beautiful cities in the entire world due to its old brick houses and buildings. Here, you don't have to look for any beautiful street since every street is beautiful, so you will just find the beauty at any corner of every street. I definitely prefer it's looks over Amsterdam, Venice, Rome and Paris without a single doubt.

The colors of the old bricks gave the city its unique vibration
We parked the van and took a bus to the city center. We asked the driver where to get out, when he told us the next stop. Before the last stop, I saw already so much nice architecture I wanted to have a look at, not knowing that it would only get better and better.
We decided to explore the cobled streets of Bruges by foot, just wandering around the city in the direction of ''the market'', the heart of the city center and all the terraces. It was a nice and warm day, not so sunny but perfect for a city trip. We admired the buildings, bridges and canals on the way and, ofcourse, took plenty of pictures. The city itself was not too busy, but neither a ghost town. It was a nice crowd to give the city a good vibe. I am glad that this city is not so widely discovered yet. It is a great contrast with cities like Amsterdam and Parish, its crowdedness is sometimes just not enjoyable anymore. That makes Bruges only more delightful.
Let's try some local beer
When we arrived at the market, we decided to sit down, have a rest after the walking tour and try some Belgium Beer. We both had one since we still had to drive to the campsite, and damn, beer is expensive in Bruges (probably also since it is the city center) But the beer was worth every penny and the place to sit is wonderful, in the sun with a nice view over the old city center. Once in a while, a horse passed by with a carriage to give tourists the best ride through the city.
Brugse Zo is a local beer from bruges. Translated to english it means: Fool of bruges. It's a very tasty Blond beer with 6% alcohol and a must try when visiting Bruges.! Did you know that Belgium is well known for its beers? They are the country with the tastiest beers in the world.

One great and medieval way to get a quick tour around the city is by horse and carriage. There are many horses running around Bruges which deliver great efforts to show people around and make them enjoy the city in an unique and even medieval way. Horses used to be a very important transport for goods and people.
It is also possible to see the city by renting a horse and a carriage, with driver of course
Another good way to get to see the city is by taking a boat tour. Bruges has many canals which allow you to see the city from another perspective and without walking and getting tired. The tour guide will explain history and locations to you and all you have to do is sit down and enjoy!
People in boats, a great way to explore the city since Bruges has many canals. However, I prefer walking so I own my own time, but most tourists prefer it the easy, guided way!
Remarkable about the Belgium brick houses, is the looks of the tip of the facade, which goes in a stair-like shape to the tip of the building. Most of the buildings here are built like this. And I think that's beautiful. We have this in Holland as well, but anywhere else, this would be unique.
This is ''De Burg van Bruges'', and since the 14th century the building has been used for the government of Bruges. Since the 14th century, the building got renovated quite some times, to let it keep up with the time and trends of that time, since the building was seen as a status object
The picture above at the left side is the alley towards the square, with at its left side the ''Burg'' Again. It looks quite different from the outside but you might recognize its towers if you take a closer look. These small alleys give Bruges an even better vibration. It is just beautiful to wander around seeing every street bring new surprises
Belgium is famous for its chocolates too, they have plenty of shops with delicious bonbons, and even beautiful looking chocolate sculptures. I would have liked to bring some for my family, but we are just at the start of our trip. But I surely wanna go back to beautiful Bruges, and then I will buy some
I hope you enjoyed reading about our little trip!
