Let's Explore Milano and fall in love with Piazza Del Duomo
Last year, we went on a trip to Italy and visited Milan. And Ohh.. It is such a beautiful place! I had been here already with my little big sister when I was 18 and she was just 16 at that time, my first time taking a plane and I was so amazed by everything. Especially by Italy's graveyards. Really, you should see them for yourself. They are beautiful. However, when I arrived back in Milan in 2021 I did not expect that it was still that beautiful to me after visiting a lot of places, but it is. Milan feels like a city I could live in! That's why we are back again for this 2022 Italy trip. And I wouldn't mind coming back again next year. Milan is so Lovable
When we arrived, we parked the van at some citycamp parking for campers, called ''new park Milano''. I didn't take any pictures there though, but we had a shower and a safe place to park. Starting the trip with my boyfriend, we decided to travel the ''comfy'' way: sleeping every night at a campsite with a toilet and shower. By the time I am writing this he actually left already, to get some stuff done back in Vienna. But anyway, let's pretend that we are still in Milan and he is still here :)
Milan has a good public transport system to get into the city centre and to the different parts of the city. We took a train to the metro station and a metro to Duomo, the place to be. I love it that all the areas in Milan are so well connected, even for clueless travellers like us. Okay, we pretty much asked every time but we always came back home safely.
When you walk the stairs, leaving the underground station, you will see a building so beautiful, it might be the most beautiful building you have ever seen: Duomo di Milano!
When you walk up the stairs while leaving the metro station, this is what you will see!
Duomo Di Milano
The construction of this majestic building began in 1386, to be only finished in 1965! No wonder with so many beautiful details that it has taken so many years to finish. I believe that this Cathedral is the reason most tourists come to Milan. This square is at least the main reason I fell in love with Milan!
The statue of King vittorio Emanuele II
The statue on the beautiful Piazza del Duomo is built in honour of King Vittorio Emanuele II. The build began in1885 and finished in 1935. The statue is actually bigger than it looks like with its 12 metre tall and 10 metres high. It contains 50 tons of bronze. You can find this photogenique statue just in front of the cathedral as you can see in the pictures.
La Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Next to the Duomo di Milano, You can find another popular place for sightseeing: La Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. It is a shopping centre with a very detailed architecture and it is definitely worth a look. The Galleria is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Europe. The shops in the building are from brands like Gucci and Prada, and other high end brands I can't afford.
Let's go to the China town
The first evening we had in Milan, we decided to opt for something different than Italian food, and give Chinatown a visit. Most big, international cities have a great variation of cuisines to offer. Since we will still travel to many ''real'' Italian towns, we decided to go for something you won't get in the villages: Chinese fried rice. Chinatown is also worth a visit for cheap shopping and asian food stores.
Another evening, after my work shift we went out for date night dinner. We just went to some random restaurant near Duomo to eat pizza and share some wine. The pizza wasn't the most amazing Italian pizza I have had. Often the Pizza is a bit disappointing around the tourist streets. The places where the locals go are usually the better one's
Waiting for the fooooooood!
But we still had Pizza! Maybe not the best photo but I have no better one, and before I could photograph my pizza, it had disappeared already
Roam around the streets of Milan
Milan is a really nice city to roam around and explore. On the way, you can enter some stores, grab some snacks and drinks and take plenty of pictures. Milan is a quite busy city and it feels alive, On daytime as well as in the evening hours
The Sforzesco Castle. This castle dates back to the 15th century and is a tourist spot as well. You can have a look inside if you like, but we weren't that interested to go in to be honest
A souvenir shop
I hope you enjoyed exploring a bit of Milan with me! Do you already feel like booking your ticket to see this beautiful city for yourself? I promise you won't regret it!

Sascha
