Talent or hard work? / Part 4 day 7

As someone who was told as a kid "Your are very talented" and also as someone who worked hard in stuff In which wasn't that talented, I can say: you can emulate talent with hard work but just the talent becomes useless with the time.

Clarifying, hard work also means smart work, because just working hard without purpose is useless too. Think, someone who carries heavy weights work hard, but carrying weights around just will get'em a back pain.

Como alguien a quien le dijeron de niña "tienes mucho talento" y también como alguien que trabajó duro en cosas en las que no tenía tanto talento, puedo decir: se puede emular el talento con el trabajo duro pero sólo el talento se vuelve inútil con el tiempo.

Aclarando, trabajo duro también significa trabajo inteligente, porque sólo trabajar duro sin propósito es inútil también. Piensa, alguien que carga pesas pesadas trabaja duro, pero cargar pesas solo les dará dolor de espalda.

When you have a talent but you don't work it, you lose it, you don't know what to do with that talent, so it will be fine for some lucky moments but you won't be able to access to that ability on demand, because it will be rusted all the time.

But when you work hard on something, you practice, even if you didn't have the talent, you will get professionalism, mastery, you will access to that ability on demand because is always fresh, is in your muscular memory.

Cuando tienes un talento pero no lo trabajas, lo pierdes, no sabes qué hacer con ese talento, así que estará bien para algunos momentos de suerte pero no podrás acceder a esa habilidad a demanda, porque estará oxidada todo el tiempo.

Pero cuando trabajas duro en algo, practicas, incluso si no tienes el talento, conseguirás profesionalidad, maestría, accederás a esa habilidad a demanda porque está siempre fresca, está en tu memoria muscular.
