I had one of those weeks again where I just couldn't write, I've been mostly anxious too but it seems like this is going to be a good week. I went to church today so it has to be a good week. Crazy right? I don't really go to church often because I'm uninterested a lot of times. Christianity is a personal relationship with God and shouldn't be defined by the number of times you go to church but I feel like a fraud when I've been away from church for too long. I don't want to go to hell because I didn't go to church even though I think most churches are frauds.
I don't necessarily have crazy beliefs, it's the other way round for me. I come across people that share their beliefs and I think, "wow, you really believe that shit?!"
I mean, it's Nigeria, if you live here long enough, nothing should surprise you.
In post he talked about how he couldn't play his saxophone because it's believed wind instruments invite snakes when played at night. It's the same with whistling. When I was younger I'd whistle at night and my dad would shut me up like it was a terrible thing to do. These days I do it and he doesn't say anything, he knows I pay no mind to these things now.
I was drinking water from a bottle the other day and my dad asked me to pour in a cup instead. He said back in the days, a woman drinking from a bottle especially if pregnant, would make the umbilical cord tie the baby round.
I looked at him like...
Then he laughed because he knew I thought that was just crazy.
In the community my university is located, the locals don't kill squirrels. I thought, oh, they're preserving animals here unlike other parts. Little did I know they didn't kill them because they worshipped squirrels. Supposedly sane humans, in a civilized environment bowing to and making sacrifices to squirrels. I didn't know what to make of that.
Earlier in the year I met a lady who said she stays far away from mosquitoes because they are attracted to her blood. She said she's O+ blood group and that mosquitoes smell her blood so they always surround her. I couldn't believe she wasn't joking.
What crazy things have you heard or seen from others?
This is my Day 8 entry for the bloggingchallenge
