Who I Am and What I Do
At this point I think it's fair to say most of you know me, but you don't know my boxer shorts or my love for a good Chinese. (No not a human but a takeaway). I'm and for the better part of six years I have been sitting — physically sitting — in front of a computer, building on Hive. None of this was possible without adequate lower body textile infrastructure or chicken chow meins . I want to be clear: every line of code I have ever written was written in my boxer shorts. The chain would not exist in its current form without them.
My background is in development, sitting down for long periods, and selecting appropriate legroom-friendly casual wear. It's hard to create a relevant shortlist of what I'm best at, but I will note that over the years I have adapted heavily to new waistband technologies.
How We Got Here
I started in 2019 with a three-pack from Poundland and a 3 in 1 which is chips , curry and fried rice. I believed in Hive and I believed in cotton-polyester blends. I kept showing up — literally showing up, to my desk, in my boxers — because someone had to, and that someone needed to be comfortable doing it.
I have never sold my boxer shorts. Well 95% of them. I once sold my Kermit the Frog boxer shorts to a friend. I view my boxers as skin in the game.
What This Proposal Covers
This is a retroactive lump sum proposal covering approximately six years of boxer short depreciation, elastic degradation, and emergency mid-sprint replacements during critical development cycles.
The ask is 90,001 HBD.
Some context for that number: over the same period I personally carried approximately €340 in boxer short expenditure — M&S multipacks, the odd Penneys emergency purchase during a Hive hardfork week, and one ill-advised novelty pair with crypto logos that I consider a legitimate marketing expense.
I want to be shockingly clear that 90,001 HBD doesn't price this at market rates. At current Hive prices it represents approximately 1.5 million pairs of boxer shorts, which is, frankly, a bargain when you consider the output.
Representative Work
- Sat in boxer shorts during the full SportsBlock prediction market specification
- Wore boxer shorts during multiple late-night Supabase debugging sessions
- Maintained boxer short integrity throughout the entire Figma automation pipeline build
- Once wore the same pair for three consecutive days during a critical push. The ecosystem never knew. it was a back to front job in the end.
The Cost of Moving On
Every commit, every PR, every "it's fixed lads" message at 1am — these required a comfortable man. A comfortable man requires reliable legwear. The tasks that didn't get done because the elastic went on a Tuesday and I had to wait for the next Dunnes delivery... those don't show up in this proposal. They're invisible. And that's partly on me for not posting about it at the time.
What Comes Next
With 90,001 HBD I plan to:
- Secure a six-year supply of premium waistband infrastructure
- Build a comfort-first development environment with documented boxer short rotation schedules
- Create KPIs — something the other proposal mysteriously avoided — specifically: pairs per quarter, elastic integrity score, and monthly comfort-adjusted velocity metrics
- Publish monthly updates on chain: "This month I wore 8 pairs. Hive price is down 14%. Unrelated."
The Ask
90,001 HBD. One more than the other proposal, because frankly my work is more foundational. You cannot build on a chain if you are uncomfortable. I have the receipts. Some of them are from Penneys and they're a bit crumpled but they're there. Even the horsey thong that screams "NEIGHHHHHH" when you press a button
If this doesn't pass, I'll keep wearing boxer shorts anyway. But I'll do it with less conviction.
