Greetings
As the Comedy Open Mic community (COM) continues to grow we feel a clear relationship is required between us as admins, curators, moderators, and members of this COMmunity to ensure we don't have any problems going forward.
In this post, we will quickly cover a few points to keep you all updated
Growth
If you read 's latest OCD Communities Incubation Program Update you'd know that despite having a little over 600 members, our COMmunity ranks high in terms of interactions, surpassing communities with over 6 thousand members.
We would like to thank all our members for their interactions as it shows real growth. Interactions are key to any community's success and essential to its growth and we have the best members. That's why we're planning a weekly contest that is comments-focused.
Whose Line Is It Anyway(WLIIA): COM Edition
This will be our weekly comments contest, every Saturday. The contest will be inspired by the American improvisational comedy television show which is inspired by a British show of the same name.
The show has many categories and mini-games which we believe are adaptable into a comment contest. We will be trying it for the next 5 weeks and see if it proves more sustainable.
There are other ideas that be tried out in between.
Translate This!
A song lyrics, a movie, or a character description will be copied from Wikipedia or IMDB and put into translation between at least 20 languages before it gets put in front of you to guess what it is describing.
Group Comedy War
had this interesting suggestion and we will look deeper into it with him but here is what it is so far.
Well said and understood. The clarification really pointed out what and what not to do when composing comedy content on the platform. The integrity really matters.
As per the suggestions, I'm thinking we can have a "group comedy war". The comedians would be divided into strata by the admin and the moderators randomly. Each group would present a person as the group representative. A topic would be chosen by the admin for the comedy ( maybe an argumentative comedy where one part would be in support or against). If we have 10 groups, for instance, 5 will be in support and the other 5 against. And they must all post at the same time to avoid cheating( rule must be followed)
Then the group members would engage in the comment section to argue further and long as they can leaving the room lively. The intention is to unite active posters and also have fun.
admits that the idea isn't fully formed yet but it will be looked into.
This is just a raw idea. One or two points can be picked from it to develop or add to other ideas. It might not necessarily be implemented.
Without Repetition
A topic will be picked and people will be asked to describe it with no less than 100 words will win. The only catch will be that the description can't have a single word repeated. If more than one person does this successfully within 24 hours of posting the winner will be picked based on the following criteria:
Description accuracy
Quality of the description
How funny the description is
The length of the description
That's it for Today
Pick which of the suggestions is your favorite and also feel free to share any ideas you might have. The rewards of this contest will depend on how much support we get. The same goes for how many categories we could have per contest.
We realize that some of these ideas may sound stupid and we accept any criticism you may have but our goal is to try and entertain our members as much as we can. There's also the possibility of hosting a comedy show with rewards in the future.
