For some unimaginable reason, during this trip to Thailand & Malaysia, I have got many nationality recognitions. And I am still at awe as to how on earth did that happen as of to question my entire birth! Let me emphasize some of the funniest one!
1 Malaysian
At the Kuala Lumpur airport, the first conversation I had was getting identified as Malaysian!
: Are you a Malaysian!? Could you tell us how to go to the KL sentral!?
(I mean look at their confidence, they didn’t even bother for my affirmation for if I AM a Malaysian or not and they asked the 2nd question with equal confidence!)
: Dooo I look like Malaysian!?
: Umm... (They got all awkward, which was my intention! I mean what do you expect from a die-hard Ricky Gervais fan!! 💀)
Anyhow, I knew answer and told them how to go without confirming my nationality and they left thanking me awkwardly, confused, and perhaps felt a bit guilty too thinking I was perhaps offended 😂
I was applauded by that comment, I mean after all my obsession for European culture, heritage made me feel so accomplished!!
The 2nd time when I went to a day tour in Thailand. A tiny and very shy French-kid, who didn’t know English (except hello or Thank you), got all comfortable and confidently started speaking French!!
( I half understood and half guessed her throughout the time, which was quite fun for me 😂💀)
4 Thai inside-out!
But damn to those all, Thai people bit them!
It was a funny catastrophe in Thailand!
Wherever I go, they would immediately start speaking Thai to me until I start speaking! So, sometimes I took the time to have fun while the "imposter game" lasted every time 😂🤐
I laughed so hard here! 😂 He asked me if I am sure of my very own Nationality 😂😂😂
I mean mann!
Look at me!
I am THE DEFINITION of brown Asian and the whole facial features of mine scream!
And Both Malaysian & Thai people have the similar South-Asian feature like Korean/Japanese/Chinese!
