Wishing you a nice weekend!
During my second year[ND2] in school, I and my four friends decided to go for a very cheap house in order to cut down expenses and save for the the upcoming project works.
We secured a very big room in a local environment occupied by the indigenes of that community, infact, we and our neighbor were the only students in that area, our living standard turned to that of the indigenes, like going out to a far place to fetch water, closing doors to avoid native fowls from entering the room, helping the indigenous neighbours with salt, pepper and Maggi every now and then😁.
Our next door neighbor, Stella, was a very classic girl and one would give it a double thought why she decided to live in a place like that. Also she doesn't pass the night often in the house because of her numerous guy's places she visits.
One night...
Around 7pm that evening, there was heavy downpour, so none of us were able to go out to visit or pass the night in a friend's place, we were complete at home that night and the girl (next door neighbor) couldn't go out too.
Around 1:00am, a loud bang on the door woke us up, "who's banging on the door like that na?" One of us shouted, thinking it's one of our friends that's trying to come into the room. But on a second thought, it's late already and no reasonable person would enter the rain to come looking for friends in that odd hour...it was still raining heavily that time
We were still calculating and trying to figure out who could that be when we heard another bang "gbooooaaa!"
"Guy, the bang is not on our door but Stella's door" one of us whispered and at that moment, we became scared because it was obvious that armed robbers were around.
All of us matched up and started running helterskelter in the big room, as if we were trying to pick up matches and knives to go and fight the armed robbers but hell no, we were busy hiding our valuable stuffs incase they enter our room.
Did I mentioned that we were five guys in the room that night? You needed to see how fives guys began to shiver in the room instead of "manning up" to chase the robbers away🥱.
The Interesting part was that, the house is an olden days house with soft wooden door and those kinda wooden widows that has perforated spaces to let fresh air in. So we didn't bothered to brace the door or window because it'll fall off on a once bang.
The other girl, her door was recently reconstructed with a hardwood that's why it didn't fell off on the consecutive bangs.
After a while of hitting the girl's door, it refused to fall, they turned to tearing the door with axes and cutlasses, we were hearing the sound even though it was raining heavily, but we couldn't risk it coming out.
One of us took a bold step to peep through the perforated spaces on our window and he saw that they were just three with axes and cutlasses but no gun.
So he stepped down and told us what he saw and suggested that since we're five and they're three, we could attack them and outsmart them since they're not with gun.
"Count me out, I can't take that risk, what if they're with guns but are hidden" one us countered the earlier suggested move.
So we killed the idea and decided to wait for our fate to happen to us.
We prepared everything to wait for them because we were sure that once they're through with the girl, they'll enter the next door which is ours.
We hid our main phones and brought out the simple ones, so they'll will be handy to them when they come.
In a few minutes, we hard the loud voice of Stella crying while answering them that she has no money with her.
Then suddenly, we heard them come out of the room and all our thought was that, they were about to enter our room, so we knelt down on our beds and formed a sympathic look while waiting for them to bang on the door.
But instead, we heard a soft knock on the door and fear gripped us the more because we thought they decided to be gentle and allow us to open the door for them. Then we heard a female's voice;
"Kingsley, please open the door, it's me, Stella", Stella said after she knocked on the door.
I wanted to get up to open the door immediately for her but one of us suggested that: "what if they're using her as a bait for us to open the door?", so we had to confirm very well before opening the door for her.
We later opened the door for her after confirming it's only her that was knocking on the door.
Luckily for her, she wasn't raped or bitten, and they didn't even collect any money from her because she had none with her on that particular night
Dawn of the day...
We came out around 7:00am and saw how the door what cut down into half which they used to enter the room.
All the neighbors came out to sympathize with us, AS IF THEY DIDN'T HEARD THE LOUD BANGS ON THE DOOR during the night. Mtchwwwwwww!
