Like I had said in the Part 1 of this post, there is nothing you will not see or hear from my country. We would always make you laugh with either our jokes, our beliefs and most especially funny stereotypes we've grown to believe.
I gave out some funny stereotypes nd promised to share more... Trust me, there are a lot I'm yet to remember but I'll make sure to share them when I do. For this post, I'll share another four funny stereotypes that might get your ribs cracking.
You might want to note again that I've once believed these stereotypes so I'm not writing not guilty here π
Drinking coconut water effects
I want to believe everyone of us know what coconut is and also about the fluid it has in it... It tastes very sweet if you're lucky to get the real ones and not those ones that taste like sour soya milk (I've not tasted any like that though π).
Have you drank coconut water before? At what age did you drink it?
If you did drink at a younger age, you're some percent duller than you would have been... I wasn't the one that said it, my parents and elders did π they say, "Drinking coconut water reduces your brain capabilities" so they always stop kids from drinking it.
And this have made so many kids run from coconut water, a friend of mine don't even like eating coconut at all for that same reason π Well, I got wiser and also learnt that the fluid actually helps to improve the brain cells... You can imagine how much we've missing out to grow our brains.
Ghosts walking with their heads in the market place
This one is another scary stereotype that they made me believe and I still think this happens but I would never want to confirm if it really does. I've heard so many stories about it and some were not funny, they were actually so scary that going to some market places is out of it for me.
There was this particular market place I know of, they say a woman bent down to pick up some things that fell from her hand... Looking through her legs, she saw many people walking with their heads and she screamed trying to say what she saw.
The woman ran mad immediately π³
I don't know how true the story is but I've been careful after an elderly person told me again to be very careful when I'm at a market place. She said "Even ghost goes to the market to buy stuffs". Can someone tell me what they buy please? π
For sometime, my head ran through many scary imaginations... Are people even safe in the market place? What if a ghost is selling to you? Well, welcome to my country!
Picking money from the ground
It's been about 10-12years I last heard of this funny but another scary situation. It was so popular and rampant back then. People misplace their money on purpose, other people picks up the money and boom! They would turn into tubers of yam π I saw a few videos trying to explain it more clearly.
A lot of kids like myself back then made sure to walk past money we saw on the ground, we never even bother to look for who own the money just so we didn't fall victim.
Right now, I can imagine how rich I would have been if not for that news/stereotype
There was a time I lost a huge amount of money I would have used to buy stuffs from the market... I couldn't help but pray that nobody picks the money with the fear that they might turn into a tuber of yam π but guess what! I went back look for the money, someone had dared to pick it up.
Why didn't the person change to yam? I kept asking as if I had put something to cause it in the money π
Scratching one's palm
This is one of the sweetest stereotype I've ever known π and yes, I tend to believe this one even more since I learnt about it. Anyone could have an itchy palm because of something but Nigerians have added meaning to it and this kind of works sometimes.
When you scratch your palms (your hand palms) it means you're going to have some good amount of money soon... In other words, itchy palm means wealth is coming! π
You can imagine how happy I feel whenever I scratch my palm
Some days ago, my back legs were itching me and I was like "This money go plenty this time o" meaning, the wealth will be more than usual since it wasn't my hand palm that was itchy π
Don't laugh at me but this stereotype is money related so it's one of my favourites π and I keep finding ways to make my palm itch me, I hope it still works that way.
And that is it for today's share of some funny stereotypes, I'll be sharing more in future posts so you can look forward to it.
