My biggest fear in this world isn't falling off a cliff, or being robbed or being chased by an animal, it's wanting to use the toilet with no toilet around, it's always toilet related. That being said, let me tell you about my latest encounter. There's this girl I liked, or I had a crush on rather. She was smart, beautiful and she had a great sense of humor, she ticked all my boxes.
The problem is I'm the shy type and I'd never tell her I like her. My friends knew this and they decided to play match maker. I didn't send them. She was having a house party to celebrate her birthday and my friends managed to get me an invite. If I had known it was her birthday, I wouldn't have gone but they told me we were going for karaoke.
We don't usually dress up for karaoke, I mean like wear shoes and nice clothes because karaoke isn't that far from the house and since we went there to have fun, nobody really cared about what they wore but they were asking me to dress up this time, comb my hair, wear a nice shoe. I started suspecting them but then again, I didn't know it was her birthday.
Daniel drove us there. I thought I was being kidnapped when we passed the karaoke lounge and he was still driving. There was something off about them, they had devilish smiles. I didn't bother to ask them, as far as they were not kidnapping me. I should've asked. We got to the party which was great because I could use a drink. I saw as they vanished into the crowd. I don't do too well at parties I don't know people. I tend to keep quiet and stay in a little corner until it's time to leave. I was in that little corner when I saw her, Victoria, my crush. I dashed to find one of the people I came to the party with since they seemed to have forgotten about me. I found Michael first. I pointed at Victoria and made him aware of her presence and he goes "Why wouldn't she be here? It's her birthday party"
That's when I remembered the dressing up, the shoes, the hair, it was all a setup to get me here.
I tried to avoid her the rest of the night but Cynthia had come to make introductions, she was her friend too. I told her I was sorry for not bringing anything with me, they didn't tell me it was her birthday. She said it was fine, as far as I could make it, that was gift enough. That's when my paranoia started. I was gift enough? Did she know I liked her? Did they tell her? Is she playing games with me?
It was that time of the night where everybody gathered to play games and drink. Five minutes into the game, my stomach started upsetting me. Why now? why now??? I asked for the toilet. The guy sitting next to me gave directions. I left the game and went to use the toilet. That's when my trouble started. The toilet refused to flush at once. I wasn't going to panic, I was just going to wait for the water tank to fill up and just try again. As I was waiting, someone knocked on the door asking if anybody was in. Guess who, Victoria. Of all the people that it could be, it just had to be her. That's when I started panicking.
It seemed at the water tank knew I was panicking because it started to fill up slowly. I could hear it laughing. She knocked on the door again. I shouted to let her know someone was inside. She replied with "please hurry, I'm waiting". There wasn't an extra bucket in the bathroom I could use to fetch more water to flush. Not even an air freshener. Was this going to be the first impression she had of me? The water tank finally filled. I flushed and this time, it took everything with with. I was so relieved. I opened the door and she goes, "oh, is you, what where you do you doing in there since?". I didn't have answer, I just told her the toilet is free now and walked away. She didn't say anything to me throughout the game, she just kept starring. I thought it was because she saw something in the toilet after I was gone and was wondering the type of person I was or maybe she was wondering what I was doing in the toilet since, could be anything. I didn't make eye contact though, God knows what she could be thinking.
When it was time to leave, my friends were hyping me, saying Victoria and I left the game at the same time. asking me what we went to do, if only they knew I was battling for me life.
I woke up the next morning with a "hi" from an unknown number on Whatsapp. I checked the profile picture and there she was, Victoria.
