Tiktok can be a fun place where you have a good time, looking for a place to chill and pass the time? TikTok got you covered. You can also do a lot of learning there. There are amazing food accounts that teach you how to make different types of food if you have all the right ingredients. I've learnt alot from TikTok, especially how to make sharwama cream. I like to learn how to make all these things because my mom is a caterer and she has all these things just sitting in the house waiting for me to use them. Everytime I've gone home recently, that's what I do, bring out those things an "explore" according to TikTok. She has taken the liberty to lock up all the ingredients because according to her, it's for her work, and I am wasting it.
Parents, always trying to bend you to their will, they won't let you let you explore your talent. I'm not saying I'm an excellent cook. Infact, most of the things I try to make come out as disasters but that doesn't mean she should deprive me of trying right? After all, practice make perfect. In her defense, I've been practicing for three months and I've not gotten better.
So yes, TikTok, you can really learn a lot but please, don't try everything you see, leave it to the professionals. I say this because the last thing I tried didn't work out as I planned. I saw this trend on TikTok where people would jump out of places and try to scare their friends and family. The person they scare would then fall into a big bowl of water they had placed. I saw kids pull these pranks on their parents, like I said, professionals.
What I didn't notice was I didn't see anybody pull this prank on an African parent because they had sense and I didn't apparently. I decided to try the prank on my mum. I realize how stupid I was as I type this now.
I got everything ready, placed the water in a suitable position, placed my camera and hid on position, waiting for my mum to pass. One thing I learnt that day is you don't mess with an African mother like that. I waited for 20 minutes and then I heard her call my name but I didn't answer, hoping she'd come my way to find me. It did work, I saw her coming and I got ready to scare her. I jumped out of where I was and almost gave the woman a heart attack. She shouted but she didn't fall towards the water. I was busy laughing, congratulating myself on a job well done I felt a slap on my face.
My laughing soon turned to a frown, she didn't find the joke funny. I knew I was in trouble. I quickly picked up my phone and tried to explain to her that it was a prank. She only got more angry when she realized I was filming her. She asked me to carry the water I had positioned for her outside. When we were outside, she asked me to pour it on my body with my clothes on. I didn't have a choice. I did exactly that. I didn't want to play the "I'm too old for you to be bossing me around" card because that'd only get me in more trouble.. She then said she had a prank of her own. She went inside and brought out a broom, said I should sweep the dog house, after that, I should go in and do all the dishes.
TikTok didn't tell me I was going to have to go through all these. I thought it was over when I finished the dishes. Every day for the next week, I had to pour water on my body with my clothes on. That's enough pranking for a life time for me. What I learnt that day was, prank your dad instead, it might turn out differently.
