The part about her love refusing to become a legemd is so haunting. For Anousa, letting her loss become just a "story" would mean it’s finally over and settled in the past. By keeping it a quest on that creaking bamboo raft, she keeps him alive in the present.
The imagery of her fiery crimson dress against the "blue ink" twilight is stunning. She is like a literal flame trying to light up the "graveyard of artificial stars" on the water. Most people see those lanterns and think of luck or beauty, but for her, each light is just a reminder of what the current took.
I loved the wooden pole acting as her only physical connection to the riverbed. It’s a powerful look at extreme loyalty. Why did u choose the "whisper of iron" from the bridge as the secret-keeper for the shipwreck? Great writing!
