Feel the hypnotic carnage 😵‍💫

It's been a while since I've posted about anything EDM-related. If you don't know what EDM is, it's Electronic Dance Music aka my favorite type of music. I love it so much that I even created the EDM Community on Hive, although it is pretty dead at present time. I have it there waiting for the day when all bass heads flock to Hive in search of the best Web3 social media.

2022 has been such an amazing year on the scene and full of incredible releases. Although I don't go to as many raves as I used to, I definitely still listen to an hour or two of EDM every single day. It is actually the perfect music to workout out, among other things.

Something about the week of August 14-20 was just extra special to me. I've already been spoiled with my favorite artists Lit Lords dropping a new single basically every single week this year as well as an amazing EP. However, today's post isn't about Lit Lords. I instead wanted to focus on 5 other artists who just gave the EDM world yet another reason to be hyped.

The following 5 EPs that just dropped are all extremely special, each in their own way. Now allow me to introduce you to these new releases and the artists behind them. This is about to get nasty. Sam Lamar

Rebirth EP

Sam Lamar is a long-time favorite producer of mine. His sound is so unique and he just always manages to get my head bobbing. I'm still salty about the one time I was supposed to see Sam Lamar and Kai Wachi at Skully's in Columbus, but Sam Lamar canceled last second due to being unable to get through from Canada. Luckily, Kai Wachi still murdered the joint and it was a great night, but I still have yet to see Sam Lamar live.

This new EP of his is first since Eons back in 2021. Of course there is also Major Arcana: Origins from 2020 and my all-time favorite Sam Lamar work Major Arcana from 2019. This guy has been killing it for years and this new EP is nothing short of what I expect from him. The best song on the EP in my opinion is Bad Boy, which also has another great artist Izzy Vadim featured. Their combined sounds result in a powerful tune. Of course, the whole EP is amazing.

Tripzy Leary

Aliendemic

Any fan of aliens should instantly be a fan of Tripzy Leary. Another Canadian producer, but really is he even from this planet? Not only are his beats straight from space, but the dude is also an excellent lyricist and should be recognized for both skills equally.

Tripzy has been unloading tons of singles here lately. With 2022 songs such as 4EVA, Snooze, and Let That Shh Go. One would think he wouldn't have much left in his catalog, but my goodness would that be an incorrect assumption. Aliendemic is a masterfully crafted EP with perfect pacing and tons of oddly satisfying sounds. It'd be really tough for me to pick a favorite off of this one, but if I had to it would probably be Take Cova.

Level Up

Coven

Many may know Level Up as Subtronics's girlfriend, but those who listen to her music know that she is much more than that. Both are great EDM artists in their own right. Together they could very likely take over the whole scene. I got lucky enough to see her perform at Excision's Reunion and she put on a hell of a show. Ever since then I've listened to all of her releases and she never disappoints.

Coven is her latest work and although every song has a feature, it is still very much the Level Up sound that I know and loves. This girl throws down hard and if you manage to still have a face after listening to this, I'd be very surprised. Let's hope the next blood ritual will reverse that face melt. Ascension is definitely my favorite song off the EP and that's simply because it is the hardest hitting.

Yoked

Fun In The Sun

I'll be honest, this is the very first time that I've ever listened to any music from Yoked. I'm officially a fan now though. Disciple Round Table is one of my favorite EDM record labels and they have been posting a lot about Yoked's new EP, so I had to give it a chance. Luckily I did because damn does this guy know how to produce some high-quality bass.

You can tell by the cover art that this one is a lot of fun. It's not all fun in the sun though, since you might have to worry about your speakers blowing from all that bass. I'm going with Postal as my standout from this EP and not just because it features another amazing artist named Versa.

Decimate

Nebulous EP

Decimate is another artist that I don't know a ton about, but I have most certainly listened to a lot of his music. He just keeps popping up on my radar, so it's hard to ignore his devastating sound. Seems like a cool dude to me from this photo that I found.

If I ever get an anti-gravity aircraft, Decimate's Nebulous EP would be the perfect cruising music. Dropping from Buygore, if you know that label then you know this was bound to be a killer EP. My personal favorite would be none other than Guilty Pleasure.
