Las energías tienen morada
Un abrazo para mis amigos. Hoy desde esta comunidad que nos acoge desde un abrazo cálido.
Las Tunas, es una ciudad pequeña, atravesada por la Carretera Central, siempre que hablo de sus características menciono este acontecimientos porque influyó en el desarrollo económico y social de este territorio.
Al pasar por su centro pueden ver la Iglesia Católica San Jerónimo. La primera ermita se construyó en 1690 y en 1762 se construyó con muros de ladrillos. En 1787, el Fray Jerónimo Valdez, concedió licencia para una hospederia que diera abrigo a quienes iban a rendir culto a la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre en Santiago de Cuba.
Con el paso del tiempo desapareció la hospederia y en su lugar vemos una especie de glorieta que nada tiene que ver con la tradición constructiva de la región y sí con el simple motivo de construir allí un espacio cultural que confrontara la actividad religiosa no aceptada por el sistema social vigente.
Hemos demorado en entender que la religiosidad de los pueblos es parte de su identidad. Respetarla es reconocer la dignidad intrínseca de las comunidades y su derecho a construir sentido desde sus propias cosmovisiones. Estas tradiciones espirituales, forjadas a lo largo de siglos, son depósitos de sabiduría, ética, historia y una relación única con el territorio y la memoria colectiva.
La iglesia Catolica, después de décadas en evidente deterioro ha vuelto a ser simbolo esperanzador. El respeto a esta dimensión sagrada es, por tanto, un pilar fundamental para la convivencia en sociedades contemporáneas. No se trata de mi adhesión personal o la de los gobernantes a sus creencias, sino de garantizar la libertad de conciencia y proteger el patrimonio cultural inmaterial de la humanidad.
Todos estos os se ha apostado por la recobstrucción de este símbolo arquitectónico de la ciudad y por el diálogo interreligioso basado en el respeto mutuo. Este entendimiento fortalece el tejido social, fomenta la paz y enriquece el panorama humano con su diversidad.
Preservar y honrar estas expresiones espirituales es un acto de justicia y una condición esencial para un futuro donde la diferencia no sea motivo de conflicto y se apuedte por el enriquecimiento colectivo.
La fortaleza de la Iglesia Católica en las Américas es histórica, demográfica e institucional. Desde su imposición durante la colonización española y portuguesa, se arraigó como un pilar fundamental de la sociedad. Hoy, países como Brasil, México y Estados Unidos albergan algunas de las mayores poblaciones católicas del mundo. Otros países pequeños como Cuba han empoderado el catolicismo porque de alguna manera creo con solidez su infraestructura y su testamento.
Respetar a quienes profesan una fe es reconocer la dignidad de su búsqueda espiritual y su libertad de conciencia. Este respeto, basado en la tolerancia y el diálogo, es el fundamento indispensable para la convivencia pacífica y el enriquecimiento mutuo en cualquier sociedad plural.

Energies Have a Dwelling

Las Tunas is a small city, crossed by the Central Highway. Whenever I speak of its characteristics, I mention this fact because it influenced the economic and social development of this territory.
When passing through its center, you can see the San Jerónimo Catholic Church. The first hermitage was built in 1690, and in 1762 it was built with brick walls. In 1787, Friar Jerónimo Valdez granted a license for an inn to shelter those going to pay homage to the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre in Santiago de Cuba.
Over time, the inn disappeared, and in its place, we see a kind of gazebo that has nothing to do with the region's traditional architecture and everything to do with the simple motive of building a cultural space there to counter the religious activity not accepted by the prevailing social system.
We have been slow to understand that the religiosity of peoples is part of their identity. To respect it is to recognize the intrinsic dignity of communities and their right to build meaning from their own worldviews. These spiritual traditions, forged over centuries, are repositories of wisdom, ethics, history, and a unique relationship with the territory and collective memory.
The Catholic church, after decades of evident deterioration, has once again become a symbol of hope. Respect for this sacred dimension is, therefore, a fundamental pillar for coexistence in contemporary societies. It is not about my personal adherence or that of the rulers to its beliefs, but about guaranteeing freedom of conscience and protecting the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
There has been a commitment to the reconstruction of this architectural symbol of the city and to interreligious dialogue based on mutual respect. This understanding strengthens the social fabric, fosters peace, and enriches the human landscape with its diversity.
Preserving and honoring these spiritual expressions is an act of justice and an essential condition for a future where difference is not a source of conflict and where collective enrichment is embraced.
The strength of the Catholic Church in the Americas is historical, demographic, and institutional. From its imposition during Spanish and Portuguese colonization, it became deeply rooted as a fundamental pillar of society. Today, countries like Brazil, Mexico, and the United States are home to some of the largest Catholic populations in the world. Other small countries like Cuba have empowered Catholicism because, in some way, I believe its infrastructure and its legacy were solidly built.
Respecting those who profess a faith is to recognize the dignity of their spiritual search and their freedom of conscience. This respect, based on tolerance and dialogue, is the indispensable foundation for peaceful coexistence and mutual enrichment in any plural society.
