Привіт, шановні читачі! Сьогодні поговоримо про монету, яка, на перший погляд, нічим не відрізняється. Але вона має багату історію, адже випускається з 1793 року. Всі грошові одиниці номіналом 1 цент є законним платіжним засобом на території Штатів, хоча в обігу не використовуються. Цент, що розглядається, виготовлений зі сплаву міді та цинку. Важить вона 3.11 г, а розмір складає 19 мм. Монета, до речі, знаходиться в досить непоганому стані. Всього ж в обіг було випущено понад п'ять з половиною мільярдів таких монет. Та навіть попри величезний тираж на українському ринку одноцентові монети США без відмітки монетного двору продають дорожче свого номіналу. Сьогоднішня ціна складає близько 10 гривень в залежності від стану монети.
В 1978 році одноцентові монети карбували на дворах Денвера, Сан-Франциско та Філадельфії. Тираж виробів Сан-Франциско невідомий. Ці монети зустрічаються рідко й коштують дорожче. На МД Денвера було виготовлено 4.2 мільярди одноцентових монет.
Монета, яка зображена на світлині, викарбувана у Філадельфії. Свій оновлений дизайн вона отримала у 1959 році. Взагалі, логотип монетного двору на монетах цього року наносився на аверсі під цифрами 1978. На світлині монети логотип відсутній. Потрібно відзначити, що за 230-річну історію дизайн одноцентової монети змінювався не дуже часто. Існує лише кілька типів монет.
Реверс. В центральній частині нанесено Меморіал Лінкольна, будівля, яка розташована у Вашингтоні. В нижній частині по колу викарбувана назва, номінал монети, а у верхній — назва країни. Монета має гладкий гурт.
З іншої сторони зображено портрет 16-го Президента, справа від якого вказано рік карбування. Зліва від портрета напис LIBERTY, а у верхній частині монети по колу викарбувано напис: ми віримо в Бога, звичайно, англійською мовою.

All 1-cent coins are legal tender in the United States, although not in circulation. The cent in question is made of an alloy of copper and zinc. It weighs 3.11 g, and the size is 19 mm. The coin, by the way, is in pretty good condition. In total, more than five and a half billion such coins were put into circulation. But even despite the huge circulation on the Ukrainian market, US one-cent coins without a mint mark sell for more than their face value. Today's price is about 10 hryvnias, depending on the condition of the coin.
In 1978, one-cent coins were minted at yards in Denver, San Francisco, and Philadelphia. The circulation of San Francisco products is unknown. These coins are rare and more expensive. 4.2 billion one-cent coins were produced at the Denver Mint.
The coin shown in the photo was minted in Philadelphia. It received its updated design in 1959. In general, the mint logo on the coins of this year was applied on the obverse under the numbers 1978. Reverse. The Lincoln Memorial, a building located in Washington, is depicted in the central part. In the lower part, the name and denomination of the coin are engraved in a circle, and in the upper part - the name of the country. The coin has a smooth band.
On the other side, there is a portrait of the 16th President, to the right of which is the mintage year. To the left of the portrait is the inscription LIBERTY, and in the upper part of the coin is engraved in a circle the inscription: In God we trust, of course, in English.
