Почали ми з головних воріт, де нам розказали коротку історію кладовища. Воно з'явилося у 1786 році. На той час Львів входив до складу Австро-Угорської імперії. Австріяки прийшли та побачили, що людей ховають просто біля церков та храмів - з санітарних причин це заборонили. Протягом довгого часу це було кладовище "для бідняків", але у 19 столітті тут почали ховати заможних людей, в яких були гроші на цілі сімейні "гробівці" (склепи).
We started from the main gate, where we were told a brief history of the cemetery. It appeared in 1786. At that time, Lviv was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Austrians came and saw that people were buried just near churches and temples - for sanitary reasons it was forbidden. For a long time it was a cemetery "for the poor", but in the 19th century here began to bury wealthy people who had money for whole family "tombs" (mausoleums).

Поховання письменників, копозиторів, відомих поетів, історичних діячів, політиків. Військові меморіали, пантеони, романтичні та трагічні історії. Словом, унікальний досвід.
The number of works of art in the form of sculptures and bas-reliefs is impressive. Each monument has its own style, its own history and, of course, its own destiny of the person who rested here. When you walk through Lychakiv cemetery, you get the mix of feelings of admiration and sadness. There is a burial place of heroes of various wars, including heroes of anti-terrorist operation. Burials of writers, composers, famous poets, historians, politicians. War memorials, pantheons, romantic and tragic stories. In short, that was quite a unique experience.
