Finally, I have taken the first dose of COVID vaccination today. To be honest, I was not so sure whether I am going to take the vaccine or not. It's not like I was against vaccination, I was thinking about side effects and how much the vaccine will affect my body. After hearing all pros and cons, finally I decided to take vaccines otherwise I won't be able to travel around. Keeping Covid Vaccinated certificates will be mandatory soon like passport...
Anyway, vaccination was free but it was not available in Kharkiv. Many people were waiting for their turn so I got lucky. Right now I can't say what are the side effects, probably muscular pain or fever might happen, let's see how everything goes. So for taking the vaccine I had to go to Karazin Medical University which is located at Derzhprom.
The name Derzhprom came from a building which is located name Freedom Square. This building is known as State Industry Building which was constructed during the Soviet era. History says that this building is the first 13 storied skyscrapers of the Soviet Period. Three architects were known as Sergei Serafimov, S.Kravets, and M.Felger were involved themselves to design this building and this structure was one of the prominent architectural buildings when Kharkiv was the capital of the USSR.
After the construction, the name of the entire area became Derzhprom. Still, now this multipurpose building is playing a key role in the city holding its own architectural characteristics. This building is a great example of the constructivist architecture of the modern era.
This is Karazin Kharkiv National University, one of the leading medical schools in Kharkiv. Can you imagine the age of this building, it was constructed in 1805, around 216 years ago...
This is the entrance of the building and here I went for the vaccination. Everything went smoothly and the medical people were very helpful too. It took only 30 minutes to complete the whole procedure. I was hoping long queue but it was a working day so not many people were around. I went there early in the morning.
After taking the first dose of the Covid vaccine, I decided to go to the nearest park which has been reconstructed recently. A huge renovation has been done lately infront of the Derzhprom Building and now it became one of the beautiful and attractive spots of Derzhprom. There was another reason for going there, when I first arrived in Kharkiv, the first park I have visited was this one.
The story started four years ago, the park was nothing at that time. There were only a few trees, benches, and broken walkways. No pavement, no fountain was there. There was a small broken fountain which was closed already, moreover not a single people used to walk there. This spot was such an abandoned park and now look at the changes after remodeling and reconstruction.
It took 2 years to redesign this spot, a new fountain has been placed, big plaza and landscape design have been done. It is now a prominent square of the city. There is a nice sitting arrangement near the fountain so one can sit and enjoy the fountain. Many people call this location Freedom Square too because this park is connected directly to Freedom Square and Derzhprom Building...
I tried to take some beautiful pictures of the fountain and the park...
This is one of the busiest spots in the city, many people come here every day to enjoy the beauty of this park. Kids love this fountain and many events happen here as well. This spot looks really different at night...
Kharkiv city is developing, many significant changes have been done so far. Many upcoming projects are under construction. Even renovation is happening as well. It feels good when I compare the old city with the new development. I used to think that this city has nothing but this city changed my entire perspective. The biggest example is this location, I never thought that after 4 years, this spot will look like this. It was an abandoned area, used to stay in dark but now everything changed. It looks like the story of yesterday when people used to avoid this park, drunk and homeless people used to sleep on the benches. But now this is one of the beautiful squares and parks in Kharkiv...
According to Google Maps, the spot name is Svobody Square...
That's all for today, folks...
Until next time... Have a nice day everyone...
