I will tell you briefly that I know the main thing about two different approaches in the design and manufacture of military equipment. The yellow tank in the picture is Abram from the United States, the green Russian tank is the T-72.
The figure shows that the Russian tank is inferior to the tank in size. Why so?
The main reason, however, is the country's ability to produce tanks.
T-72 tank from the Soviet era of the 70s of last century. In Soviet times, there were also problems with resources and funds for military equipment, so they could not think of anything better then than to save as much as possible on money and resources in the production of military equipment.
Attempts to resist Western models of military equipment with limited resources created many challenges for the design bureaus of the Soviet Union. Therefore, we were looking for the most optimal option for the creation of equipment, where resources should be spent less in armor, and the protection of soldiers. Soldiers in the Soviet army were a consumable, so less resources were spent on the security and protection of the military. The smaller the tank, the less metal and other devices and spare parts it requires. But we must understand that this is not one tank, but thousands of tanks. When thousands of specimens have less weight and use of metals, it becomes generally cheaper to produce and increases in quantity.
The US approach to the production of tanks is different, they try not to skimp on the safety of the military, because the life of the military is more important than metal. And another important component is the fulfillment of the tank's goals and objectives, so there is no need to save on the advantages of fighting the enemy.
And the tank is trying to lay the development of technology for decades and hundreds of years, because the modernization of filling the tank with equipment and new models of devices and systems will require space in technology and the ability not to reduce the characteristics of the machine.
Recently, there were photos of Russian tanks sinking in swamps and chernozems. And all because they are overloaded with modernization, and not designed for the weight that was laid at the time of development many years ago, it is impossible to solve now, but to build a new tank more expensive with all the design needs for the military.
It doesn't even make sense to talk about the stuffing of both tanks here, because the US tank is packed with the best possible systems for conducting fire and counteracting enemy weapons.

Розповім коротко, що знаю головне про два різні підходи у конструюванні та виробництві військової техніки. Жовтого кольору танк на картинці це Абрам з США, зеленого кольору російський танк Т-72.
З малюнку видно, що російський танк поступається танку з США розмірами. А чому так?
Головна причина все ж у можливостях економік країну виробництві танків.
Т-72 танк ще радянської доби 70-х років минулого століття. У радянські часи з ресурсами та коштами на техніку військового призначення були теж проблеми, тому нічого кращого придумати тоді не могли, як максимально економити на грошах та ресурсах у виробництві військової техніки.
Намагання протистояти західним зразкам військової техніки за обмеженням ресурсів створювало багато викликів для конструкторських бюро радянського союзу. Тому, шукали максимально оптимальний варант створення техніки, де ресурсів мало б бути менше затрачено у броні, та захисту солдат. Солдати у радянській армії були як витратний матеріал, тому на безпеку та захист військових витрачалося менше ресурсів. Чим менший танк, тим менше металу та інших приладів й запчастин потрібно на нього. Але треба ж розуміти, що йдеться не про один танк, а тисячі танків. Коли у тисячі екземплярів менша вага та використання металів, він стає загалом дешевшим у виробництві та збільшені кількості.
Підхід США до виробництва танків інший, вони намагаються не економити на безпеці військових, бо життя військового важливіше за метал. А ще важливою складовою є виконання танком поставлених цілей та завдань, а отже економити на перевагах у бою перед ворогом немає потреби.
А ще у танк намагаються закладати розвиток технологій на десятки та сотні років у перед, адже модернізація наповнення танку обладнанням та новими зразками приладів та систем потребуватимуть місця у техніці та можливість не зменшити характеристик машини.
Нещодавно були фотографії, про те, як російські танки тонуть у болоті та чорноземах. А все тому, що вони перевантажені модернізацією, та не розраховані на ту вагу, яка була закладена на момент розробки багато років тому, вирішити цього не можливо наразі, а будувати новий танк дорожче з усіма конструкторськими потребами для військових.
Про начинку обох танків тут немає навіть сенсу розмовляти, бо танк США напханий максимально найкращими на сьогодні системами ведення вогню та протидії ворожим засобам.
