Майже 3 тижні тому ми оголошували збір коштів українськими волонтерами-етнографами для підтримки стареньких бабусь, які два місяці пробули під російською окупацією на Чернігівщині, яка межує на півночі з республікою Беларусь, звідки 24 лютого 2022 в Україну увірвались колони російської армії.
Almost 3 weeks ago, we announced the collection of funds by Ukrainian volunteer ethnographers to support old grandmothers who spent two months under Russian occupation in Chernihiv Oblast, which borders the Republic of Belarus in the north, from where Russian army columns entered Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Ці бабусі є цінними носіями автентичних українських традицій, вони знають і співають давні українські пісні. Впродовж багатьох років до цих бабусь їздили фольклористи-етнографи і записували віж них цінну інформацію.
These grandmothers are valuable bearers of authentic Ukrainian traditions, they know and sing ancient Ukrainian songs. For many years, folklorists-ethnographers visited these grandmothers and recorded valuable information from them.
І от перша поїздка у звільнені села відбулася. Давні знайомі були неймовірно раді бачити один одного. Так, звичайно, здоров'я стареньких дуже постраждало від побаченого та пережитого, але вони лишись такими ж життєрадісними як і колись.
And so the first trip to the liberated villages took place. Old acquaintances were incredibly happy to see each other. Yes, of course, the health of the old women was greatly affected by what they saw and experienced, but they remained as cheerful as before.
Звичайний сільський побут, щоденні клопоти по господарству, треба сховати в підвалах гарний цьогорічний врожай. Бабусі все літо працювали, щоб мати запаси їжі, бо вони побачили, що таке голодна російська армія бандитів та крадіїв.
Ordinary rural life, daily household chores, it is necessary to hide this year's good harvest in the cellars. Grandmothers worked all summer to have food reserves, because they saw what a hungry Russian army of bandits and thieves was like.
І хоч гостинці від волонтерів виявились доволі скромні, але найголовніша мета цієї поїздки - нагадати бабусям, що про них пам'ятають, піклуються, готові прийти на допомогу і головне, що їхні пісні і далі співають вже молоді українські фольклорні гурти.
Although the gifts from the volunteers turned out to be quite modest, the main goal of this trip is to remind the grandmothers that they are remembered, cared for, ready to help, and most importantly, that their songs are still being sung by young Ukrainian folk bands.
