Estoy visitando a mis nietos en San Fernando de Apure. Dos o tres veces al año los vengo a ver para compartir con ellos y sus padres cálidos momentos de intercambio familiar, los niños me esperan alegres, son 6 niños y un adolescente, cada uno de ellos le aporta a mi vida mucha alegría y emociones diversas al constatar cómo crecen, aprenden y demuestran sus saberes.

Esta vez también he aprovechado para darles algunos consejos de dibujo y pintura. Quienes me conocen saben que me gusta pintar, entonces viajo con mis materiales: pinceles, acuarelas y papeles porque sé que ellos van a querer pintar conmigo.

Pintar ofrece múltiples beneficios a los niños, es una de las actividades que más realizan en realidad, y se sienten muy seguros de lo que están haciendo, pero yo deseo que vayan aprendiendo técnicas que les ayuden a afinar la capacidad de observación y tengan, en algún momento, una afición para la vida.

Mi participación consiste en dejarles hacer, para que experimenten con los materiales, en este caso acuarelas y creyones acuarelables. Luego buscamos un motivo o un dibujo de algo que les llame la atención y voy paso a paso enseñando las técnicas, sin apurarlos ni corregirles en exceso, sino paso a paso indicándoles lo que deben hacer. Si no terminamos, no importa, lo guardamos para otra sesión de trabajo. Mi nieto de once años ha ido guardando sus dibujos.

Esa, creo que es la labor de una abuela, enseñar sin atosigar, todo lo contrario son ellos quienes quieren estar pintando todo el tiempo, por lo que los voy atendiendo, uno a uno, para tener mejor disposición anímica y control de los materiales. Como son niños de pronto sacan más pintura, echan en el recipiente y no se utiliza en el momento y es importante enseñarles a usar racionalmente los recursos.

Me gusta mucho la disposición de ellos, su seriedad y concentración para hacer cada cosa. Uno de los logros que también obtenemos es aprender a manejar la paciencia, a veces quieren terminar de una vez el dibujo y la acuarela tiene una característica que es que se deben aplicar varías capas tenues y estas van «hablando», según como haya quedado la mancha y es bonito dejarla secar lo suficiente.

Ayer me senté a dibujar con mi nieto de 6 años, él quería dibujar una rana. Estuvo entretenido haciendo detalles, lo dejé hacer porque es importante que cada niño desarrolle su creatividad, estuvo muy atento al comportamiento de la pintura y buscaba que los colores no se repitieran, en este caso los tonos de verde.

He estado trabajando también con mi nieto de diez años. Él se interesa mucho con este mundo de la pintura. Él busca sus diseños de internet, pero también se entusiasma en pintar árboles imaginarios y propone los tonos que cree son los adecuados.

Yo comencé a pintar cuando ya estaba jubilada, ellos están aprendiendo con orden desde su niñez. Serán hombres y mujeres que apreciarán el arte en todo su esplendor, eso deseo.

My participation consists of letting them experiment with the materials, in this case watercolors and watercolor crayons. Then we look for a motif or a drawing of something that catches their attention and I go step by step teaching them the techniques, without rushing them or correcting them excessively, but step by step showing them what to do. If we don't finish, it doesn't matter, we save it for another work session. My eleven-year-old grandson has been saving his drawings.

That, I think, is the job of a grandmother, to teach without harassing, on the contrary, they are the ones who want to be painting all the time, so I take care of them, one by one, to have a better mood and control of the materials. As they are children, suddenly they take out more paint, throw it in the container and it is not used at the moment and it is important to teach them to use the resources rationally.

I really like their disposition, their seriousness and concentration to do each thing. One of the achievements we also get is to learn to manage patience, sometimes they want to finish the drawing at once and watercolor has a feature that is that you must apply several thin layers and these are "talking", depending on how the stain is left and it is nice to let it dry long enough.

Yesterday I sat down to draw with my 6 year old grandson, he wanted to draw a frog. He was entertaining making details, I let him do it because it is important for each child to develop his creativity, he was very attentive to the behavior of the paint and he was looking for the colors not to repeat, in this case the shades of green.

I have also been working with my ten year old grandson. He is very interested in this world of painting. He looks up his designs from the internet, but he also gets excited about painting imaginary trees and comes up with the shades he thinks are just right.

I started painting when I was already retired, they are learning in order from their childhood. They will be men and women who will appreciate art in all its splendor, that is my wish.
