"A child by nature is curious of how things work, let them do it and explore." -Unknown
A big HELLO to all the amazing people of the hive! I hope you are all fine and healthy today! It's been a while guys and I missed the interaction and engagements from this wonderful communityπ₯°.
Today, I want to share a mischievous moment of my four-year-old son, Cedrick. You know, a child is always curious about a lot of things and even wants to try a lot of stuff on their own without minding if those were safe or not for them, right? And that is what exactly happened to my son.
It was a fine afternoon when my 4-year-old agreed to have a haircut and he was indeed excited about it. We waited until the faculty meeting was over so that we could go to a barber shop nearby the school. He went with me to work because he had no class in his daycare class. So, I brought him with me to our meeting that day.
After work, we went to get his hair done. As usual, he'd been curious about all the scissors, varieties of combs, shavers, and the like when we got inside the barber shop. He was so overwhelmed with his new haircut and was very friendly to the lad who attended to him (Unfortunately, I was not able to capture a photo when we were inside the shop because I left my phone at school). Before going home, he lovingly asked for ice cream and was very happy about itπ .
The next day, he went to my classroom after his daycare class. Since I was in the middle of my discussion when he arrived, I instructed him to wait for me in my small cubicle or lounge area just next to my classroom.
I guess, all parents would agree with this, when your child makes noise while playing, keep calm they're okay (as long as there's no crying) but when your child becomes very silent, be scaredπ, you must go and check immediately.
And that's what happened that day. At first, my son kept on peeping at me in my class and then went back to where I told him to stay and then, he never came back again. After a while, I realized he'd been very silent for too long so I excused myself for a moment and check on him.
And then this... π
I was in shock for seconds and could not even react right away. I tried to control my temper but I did give him an angry stare. I knew at that point he knew I was already angry about what he was doing because he got scared when he looked at my face and started to cry.
My heart broke when I heard his terrified cry. So, I hugged him to give him comfort. I realized that it was partly my fault that I did not keep my scissors safely and properly when I left him there. To comfort him and to show him I was not angry anymore, I had decided to help him cut off the remaining hair on his headπ.
Later that day, I brought him again to the barbershop to give him a clean finish (0-0 cut). As result, my son experienced his bald moment for the first time. He was not sad yet not happy about his baldness when he looked at himself in the mirror because when I asked him how was he feeling about it, he loudly replied, "Bati hair!"(Ugly hairπ)... I told him that soon his hair will grow longer and that he must not cut it again with scissors on his own. And I received a convincing YES from him!
And we're back to school with my handsome bald son, Cedrick...π
The reality is that our children will continue to make mistakes out of curiosity sometimes, however, parents must understand and remember that those are part of their whole development because rest assured that they have something to learn from those mistakes.
As parents, we correct them but let us not make them feel neglected for making a mistake. Let us make them feel that we accept them despite their mistakes so that in the future they will openly share with us about their struggles and heartaches in life.
That is all for today my dear hive friends! I hope you have something to ponder from this story. Know that I truly appreciate the love and support from all of you!ππ₯°
See you next time then! Goodbye for now and GOD BLESS US ALL!ππ
