It's interesting to watch how children grow from one day old, to weeks, to months and years. It was my first time ever to be in a home where there is a new born baby and contributing in my own little way to assist her parents in taking care of her. It was a thing of joy when I first heard little Cleopatra, she was just adorable and cute to look at but it was sad that she had to go through so much even as a little child.
It was only two weeks after she was given birth to when her mother started having severe headache and she had to go to the hospital for check up so she could know what was wrong with her. When she got to the hospital, after she was examined the doctor demanded that she should be admitted immediately and she was. They started giving treatment but she didn't seem to be getting any better.
By that time I wasn't with them but I was planning to visit that day. When I got home, I was told the mother and the child were not at home but I wasn't told they were at the hospital. It was after some hours that I was told they went to the hospital and they needed me there. Baby Patra was just barely two weeks old so she had to be close to her mother (at least that was what we thought) and I had to be there to assist them in taking care of baby Patra.
After few hours of staying at the hospital, we realized the baby's mother was having some seizures and we had to call the doctor. At this point we were already so worried because she wasn't responding to us at all and even when she was, she could hardly recognize any of us well. The doctor asked us to leave the ward because we were already feeling too tense.
It was hard to revive her back so the doctors had to make use of oxygen for her to start breathing properly again. It took the doctors some hours to get her stable again. It was already early in the morning then and we were told that they will have to transfer her to another hospital because the facilities needed to give her the right treatment was not available at that hospital.
They transferred the baby's mother to a really far hospital and it was not wise to travel with the baby at that young age and since it wasn't necessary for her to go because she was already taking synthetic food. Due to the fact that Cleopatra was feed with synthetic food it made her deficient of some nutrients that breast milk gives. She started having cradle cap but we thought it was nothing serious at first not until it started peeling off and leaving injury on her scalp. When we consulted a doctor, they us a cream to apply and now it is completely gone.
It took her mother two weeks to get better and get discharged from the hospital. The doctor told us that she was suffering from postpartum and I guess that was due to the fact that it was her first child and she was overwhelmed by everything happening. When she returned from the hospital, it was hard for her to take care of her child because her blood pressure was still not stable yet and the doctor asked her to avoid stressing herself too much.
Cleopatra had so many things that made her uncomfortable while growing on a daily basis and that made us really worried because she hardly get to sleep at night because she cries most of the time and I think that's because she didn't get to take breast milk as she should and she takes a lot of synthetic food because she hardly gets feed up. But now her mother is feeling a lot better with breast milk and she has resumed her duty as a mother and things has improved greatly since then for the baby and also for the mother.
She had to go for shopping for her child because now they go out more often because Patra is already 2 months old and she is looking so healthy and lovely. Her mother got her a baby rocker and also a baby carrier because Cleopatra weighs quite a lot compare to how she looks. Ever since we got the baby carrier, it has made moving around with her a lot easier and fun but she doesn't seem to like the baby rocker because she always cries when we put her there.
Now baby Patra gets to enjoy more time with her mother and she is also learning how to take breast milk now but she also seem to be finding it hard to adjust because she was already getting used to using he feeder but recently she has made really good progress and we all are happy about it because her baby food is quite expensive and breast milk is what she even needs more.
As a mother it's never easy to go through something like that but I'm happy my sister was able to find a way around it and now things are going back to normal and everyone is happy about the progress made so far but both the mother and child still needs more time to adjust completely. So as a mother, never push yourself too hard and learn how to take your time because it's not easy to adjust to things.
Until next time, stay AWESOME and JIGGY!!!
