Good day everyone. Let me share with you our simple birthday celebration of my children.
We will be celebrating both the birthdays of my daughter (eldest) and my son (youngest). Since they were both born in the same month and due to financial constraints we often celebrate their birthdays together.
How We Celebrate
They were both excited knowing that today they would be celebrating their birthdays. We are going to the town, go to church and to buy some stuff.
We rode a tri-cab, another means of transportation in our place. This is a 5-seater capacity. A more convenient way to ride going to neighbouring towns. The kids can stand up in the center because it is very spacious. A lot of stuff and baggage can be put at the back of the passenger seat.
We went straight to the church of St. Vincent Ferrer here in Bogo City, Cebu. It's been a tradition of Filipino people to go to church for this kind of occasion. We have to thank our Creator for giving us another year of our life. So many things to be thankful for. We also made offerings during the mass.
I told them to pray to God to keep them safe always.
After, we lit some candles in this solemn area. This is where we offer our prayers and intentions. I thank God for giving me these treasures of mine. I may not have the capacity to give them all they want but I make sure to let them understand the circumstances that we have.
Afterwards, we went to a cake store to buy the cake. Look how happy they were knowing that they could blow a candle. That's one of the things they want to do on their birthday, to blow out a candle.
We then went to the market to buy some vegetables and spices. We also buy some fruits for the kids.
When we arrived home, we immediately prepared the things needed for today's recipe. With the help of my sister and my aunt, while they were cleaning the chicken, I cut the hotdogs and other spices needed for our spaghetti.
My little chef was eager to help her aunt (my sister) cook the spaghetti. She was very excited knowing that they will have a spaghetti for their birthday. Knowing Filipino kids, spaghetti was one of the symbols of a birthday. A cake and spaghetti make it all a birthday celebration.
All is Set
All was set!
Spaghetti, 1 whole chicken and cakes with rice and soft drinks - a simple birthday celebration for my kids. We started to sing a happy birthday song to them. The genuine smile and happiness that can be seen in their eyes make my heart happy as well. I may not afford to give them a lavish birthday celebration but their happiness is the most important thing to achieve in this day.
Let's Attack
Let's attack the table!! A small, simple yet fulfilling birthday celebration of my children. My children together with their cousins make the celebration extravagant, knowing that the closest family members are celebrating with us. Having dinner together, laughing and talking with each other - well it's a wrap!
They don't have expensive gifts or any other material things on their birthday. They may not have anything luxurious in life - but our family was a treasure itself. As long as we are all together helping each other, we couldn't ask for more. I only wish for their safety and good health always. A mother's prayer for every child they have.
That would be all for my blog. Thank you for celebrating with us. Till next blog.
