Hi Hive, I Am April from the wonderful country of Philippines, first time to join in a decentralize social media.
It's reasonable to say that as a mother of two kids with a new baby on the way, I have a full plate. In addition to working as a teacher in a public school, I have a lot going on. But with the right mindset and methods, I can manage my roles as a mother and a teacher with assurance and style.
One of the most important things to keep in mind as a mother and teacher is to extend grace to oneself. I'm not going to be perfect, and that's okay. My children and students will benefit more from a happy, engaged mother and teacher than from an ideal one. I thus take a break and focus on what is truly essential, regardless of whether I miss a deadline or my home is messy.
Another essential element of both mothering and teaching is balance. With so much on my plate, it's easy to become bogged down in work and forget to put my family first. Create guidelines and a strategy that allows me to focus on both. To have time with my family in the evenings, I finish my work during my planning period at school. When I put my phone away and give my kids my whole attention, I also spend meaningful time with them.
Because I teach kindergarten, I have a unique understanding of early childhood development. I benefit from knowing this as a mother. My kids should be encouraged to explore and learn via play. use everyday circumstances—like going grocery shopping or going on a walk—as an opportunity to teach and engage my children. I also never forget to read to them. It's one of the best ways to foster a love of learning.
I always remember to get our older kids ready as well as I get ready to welcome another baby into our home. Include them in the planning process and let them know what to expect. By assigning children specific responsibilities, such as picking out a unique gift or clothes for the newborn, I help them feel valued and significant.
Last, but not least, remember to look after yourself. When I'm a mother and a teacher, it's simple to put myself last, yet self-care is essential for my well-being. I schedule time for whatever helps me unwind and refresh, including exercise and meditation. I also keep in mind to seek assistance when I need it. My spouse, my family, and my friends are by my side.
In conclusion, motherhood and teaching are two of the most rewarding and challenging careers one can have. By showing myself grace, striking a balance, fostering a love of learning, preparing my children for a new brother, and taking care of myself, I can fulfill both obligations with assurance and delight.
