Hello Hive friends! Have a wonderful day. I’m excited to share a story about a little girl I care for very much. Her laughter, courage, and playful spirit always bring smiles and warmth to everyone around her.
While her mother is busy with work, I am the one taking care of my niece. We spend a lot of time together every day and one of the things that makes her happy is her pet chicken named Macky. She loves Macky so much and they are always together, almost like best friends.
Pea calls Macky her buddy. Ever since Macky was small, she has always hugged and carried him. It is really sweet to see how much she cares for Macky. The chicken seems to feel safe and loved whenever he is in her arms.
We got Macky when he was just a tiny chick. He was only worth 10 pesos from a man selling chicks from a cart. Macky was so small and soft back then, and his color was pink. Pea was so happy on the day we brought Macky home.
Now, seven months have passed, and Macky has grown into a strong and big chicken. One funny thing about Macky is that he is very protective. Whenever someone enters the house especially people he doesn’t see often Macky runs after them and even tries to peck their feet. He doesn’t like to eat plain chicken feed. He only picks the ones mixed with corn that’s what he eats. Sometimes we also mix rice with a little bit of food, and he likes that even more.
Pea enjoys feeding Macky every day, and she always talks to him while giving him food. They also love playing together.Pia runs around the house, and Macky follows her everywhere. Sometimes, they sit quietly in the yard while she talks to Macky as if he understands everything she says.
She always carries him wherever she goes. Sometimes, she even brings Macky to the market and just holds him in her arms. People look at them and say that it’s rare to see a child with a pet like that. She even cries whenever someone jokes about cooking him for food, like making tinola or adobo.
She loved sliding and playing with the small balls at the play area. She would go back and forth on the slide, climbing up and sliding down again and again. I always stayed close behind her, watching carefully to make sure she was safe while letting her have fun. Sometimes I would get a little tired following her so much but I could see she was happy and enjoying herself.
I was also very thankful that the play area inside SM Mall was safe and well-maintained. Even though Pea was so active and always moving, I didn’t have to worry too much about accidents. The staff were always watching, the play equipment was soft and she could explore as much as she wanted. I knew she was happy and secure.
When Pea was only4 years old, we noticed a small lump beside her eye near the eyelid. At first, we thought it was just a simple swelling or an insect bite but as the days went by, it started to grow bigger. That’s when we began to worry so we took her to the doctor for a check-up. After examining her, the doctor said the lump needed to be removed through surgery because it might spread or get worse. We agreed to have her operated on, even though it was scary. She cried a lot afterward, so I decided to take her to the mall to help her relax and forget her fear before going home.
Life isn’t always easy, especially when we see a child go through something painful. But I’m thankful that everything went well for Pea. She showed how brave and strong a little girl can be. Moments like this remind us to stay hopeful and to keep trusting that everything will be okay in the end. Thank you everyone for giving your time to read this story your support means a lot.
