Hola chicos ¿Qué tal?
En esta oportunidad y como les había mencionado antes, les quiero hablar de una de las metas por las cuales también quisimos traer a mi mamá a Ecuador y era justo para realizarle algunos chequeos médicos, ya que por algún tiempo ella se ha quejado de un dolor en su rodilla izquierda.
Está meta la pudimos lograr, con mucho esfuerzo pero también amor por parte de nosotros y el médico que nos ayudó a realizarle los estudios a mi mamá. Mi esposa, ha sido pieza clave en todo este proceso, ya que por mi trabajo no puedo acompañar a mamá y ha sido ella quien ha tenido que ir y hacer todas las gestiones correspondientes.

In this opportunity and as I mentioned before, I want to talk about one of the goals for which we also wanted to bring my mum to Ecuador and it was just to make some medical checkups, because for some time she has been complaining of pain in her left knee.
We were able to achieve this goal, with a lot of effort but also love from us and the doctor who helped us to carry out the tests on my mum. My wife has played a key role in this whole process, as I am unable to accompany my mother because of my work and she has had to go and do all the necessary work.
Lo primero que hicimos fue contactar a un médico amigo que es Reumatologo, el Doctor Kelvin Mendoza. Por cuestión de tiempo tuvimos que pagar una consulta privada, ya que aún cuando él atiende en el hospital, una cita allí tardaría meses. Así que mi mamá en compañía de mi esposa asistieron. Él la chequeó y mandó algunos medicamentos para el dolor, también pidió que se hiciera examenes y placas.
Con las pastillas mi mamá ha sentido gran mejoría, ese mismo día mi esposa la llevó a realizarse unas radiografías que costaban $130 aproximadamente, pero por ser referida del doctor, le salió completamente gratis y de verdad que esto fue una gran ayuda gracias a Dios.
The first thing we did was to contact a doctor friend who is a rheumatologist, Dr. Kelvin Mendoza. Due to time constraints we had to pay for a private consultation, because even though he works at the hospital, an appointment there would take months. So my mum and my wife went along. He checked her out and sent her some pain medication, he also asked her to have tests and x-rays.
That same day my wife took her for x-rays which cost about $130, but because she was referred by the doctor, it was completely free and it was a great help, thank God.

Luego de esto se reunió el dinero para llevarla a hacer otras radiografías y los exámenes, debo decir que esto lo hemos logrado gracias a Hive y además el trabajo extra que hacemos fuera de Hive que nos genera algunas ganancias, hemos estado algo apretados económicamente, pero somos de esos que pensamos que la salud es primero. La cita médica tuvo un costo total con revisión de exámenes de $75 y los exámenes y Rx salieron en $420, pero nos hicieron un pequeño descuento y pagamos solo $336.
Digo esto, ya que algunas personas piensan e incluso mi mamá también lo creía, que la salud fuera de Venezuela es más económica y los precios están muy parecidos. Pero gracias a Dios lo logramos. En los resultados de los exámenes hay unos valores altos, como colesterol, pero nada grave. En las placas, se observa que tiene Artrosis, también un poco de osteoporosis en su muñeca derecha y bastante afectada la zona de la nuca por mala posición, ya que ella cose.
After this the money was raised to take her for further x-rays and tests, I have to say that we have been able to do this thanks to Hive and the extra work we do outside of Hive which generates some income, we have been a bit tight financially, but we are the kind of people who think that health comes first. The doctor's appointment cost a total of $75 and the exams and Rx came to $420, but they gave us a small discount and we only paid $336.
I say this because some people think, and even my mother thought so too, that health care outside of Venezuela is cheaper and the prices are very similar. But thank God we made it.
In the test results there are some high values, such as cholesterol, but nothing serious. The X-rays show that she has osteoarthritis, also a little osteoporosis in her right wrist and her neck area is quite affected due to bad posture, as she sews.

Las recomendaciones médicas son que se cuide de no caerse y fracturarse, ya que por su edad y lo visto en las placas esto si podría traer complicaciones. Del resto le envío medicamentos y como un mentol para colocar en la zona más afectada. De allí dieta para regular el colesterol y triglicéridos.
Mi mamá está pronto a irse, y bueno esperamos ahora poder lograr obtener la medicina que necesita para que lleve con ella, ya que también debemos costear otros gastos, cómo lo es el pasaje y viene el inicio del año escolar aquí en Ecuador en la costa, pero confiamos en que Dios nos seguirá ayudando.
Nos hubiera gustado hacer más, pero el tiempo fue corto y ya tendremos más oportunidades. Eso es todo chicos en cuanto a esta meta.
The medical recommendations are that he should be careful not to fall and fracture himself, as due to his age and what he has seen in the x-rays, this could lead to complications. For the rest, I send him medication and a menthol to place in the most affected area. From there a diet to regulate cholesterol and triglycerides.
My mum is soon to leave, and we hope now to be able to get the medicine she needs to take with her, as we also have to pay for other expenses, such as airfare and the start of the school year here in Ecuador on the coast, but we trust that God will continue to help us.
We would have liked to do more, but time was short and we will have more opportunities. That's all, guys, as far as this goal is concerned.
