MÉTODO FILADELFIA / Philadelphia method

Hola comunidad! El día de hoy les hablaré un poco de otro método más 🙊 tal vez digan 'esta mujer y sus métodos!' pero personalmente me parecen de mucha utilidad, ya que son métodos comprobados que funcionan, además los hay para todos los gustos y estilos de vida. Me parecen también de gran utilidad, porque uno no nace sabiendo ser madre o padre y en el camino a veces cometemos muchos errores por desconocimiento, o tal vez hacemos cosas y ni siquiera sabemos por qué se hacen.

Today I will tell you a little about another method 🙊 maybe you will say 'this woman and her methods!' but personally I find them very useful, 'cause they're proven methods that work, and there are also for all tastes and lifestyles. They also seem very useful to me, because nobody isn't born knowing how to be a mother or father and along the way we sometimes make many mistakes due to ignorance, or perhaps we do things and we don't even know why they're done.

En fin, en este post les contaré sobre el método Filadelfia, este método es muy útil para aprender a leer y es incluso más fácil que el método tradicional. En el método tradicional se enfocan inicialmente en aprender las letras, su nombre, forma y sonido, para después aprender a formar palabras; por otro lado, el método Filadelfia inicia con las palabras y después con las letras.

Anyway, in this post I will tell you about the Philadelphia method, this method is very useful for learning to read and is even easier than the traditional method. In the traditional method, they initially focus on learning the letters, their name, shape and sound, and then learn to form words; on the other hand, the Philadelphia method starts with words and then with letters.

El método tradicional hace que para los niños sea más difícil tener una lectura en la que realmente comprendan lo que están leyendo, puesto que se están enfocando más en pronunciar y entender las letras individualmente en vez de entender el texto. El método Filadelfia, por su parte, nos presenta una forma más fácil, respetuosa y analítica.

The traditional method makes it more difficult for children to have a reading in which they really understand what they are reading, 'cause they are focusing more on pronouncing and understanding the letters individually rather than understanding the text. The Philadelphia method, for its part, presents us with an easier, more respectful and analytical way.

Para iniciar a implementar este método, iniciaremos haciendo tarjetas del mismo tamaño, en las cuales vamos a poner palabras; haremos 11 categorías de palabras, cada categoría deberá llevar 5 palabras, por ejemplo, haremos la categoría de comida, en esta categoría haremos 5 tarjetas, las cuales pueden ser: huevo, jamón, sopa, carne, pizza; otra categoría puede ser escuela: colores, salón, maestra, mochila, cuaderno. Así iremos haciendo cada tarjeta y separándolas en categorías. Cabe mencionar que deben ser palabras que el niño conozca, de objetos que estén en su entorno.

To start implementing this method, we will start by making cards of the same size, in which we are going to put words; we will make 11 categories of words, each category must have 5 words, for example, we will make the food category, in this category we will make 5 cards, which can be: egg, ham, soup, meat, pizza; another category can be school: colors, classroom, teacher, backpack, notebook. So we'll be making each card and separating them into categories. It's worth mentioning that they must be words that the child knows, of objects that are in their environment.

Cada semana iniciando el mismo día, le iremos mostrando dos categorias, se las mostraremos tres veces al día, puede ser por ejemplo después de comer, para que se haga una rutina. Las tarjetas se mostrarán por categoría, primero las tarjetas de una categoría y luego las de la otra. Al momento de mostrar cada tarjeta, nos pondremos frente al niño, para que él pueda ver simultáneamente la tarjeta y nuestra boca, para que así sepa cómo debe vocalizar y mover su boca para pronunciar la palabra escrita en la tarjeta.

Each week starting on the same day, we will show two categories, we will show them three times a day, it can be for example after eating, so that you can make a routine. The cards will be displayed by category, first the cards of one category and then those of the other. At the moment of showing each card, we will face the child, so that he can simultaneously see the card and our mouth, so that he knows how to vocalize and move his mouth to pronounce the word written on the card.

La siguiente semana seguiremos mostrando estás mismas tarjetas, sólo que ahora agregaremos dos categorías más. Es necesario que al término de cada ronda, revolvamos las tarjetas, esto para que el niño no aprenda solamente la secuencia de las palabras, sino que relacione palabra escrita con la palabra pronunciada. Al terminar todas las categorías, agregaremos frases cortas.

Next week we will continue to show these same cards, only now we will add two more categories. It's necessary that at the end of each round, we shuffle the cards, this so that the child not only learns the sequence of words, but also relates the written word with the spoken word. When we finish all the categories, we will add short phrases.

De esta manera el niño irá aprendiendo la figura de la palabra o frase escrita con el nombre de la palabra y las relacionará, posteriormente cuando vea esa palabra escrita en algún otro lugar, sabrá lo que dice.

In this way the child will learn the figure of the word or phrase written with the name of the word and will relate them, later when he sees that word written in some other place, he will know what it says.

Este método nos explica que es una forma más fácil de enseñar a leer debido a que una vez que ya aprendimos a leer lo hacemos rápido, solamente viendo la palabra de reojo y sin detenernos a leer letra por letra, ya que esta forma tradicional ralentiza la lectura y la comprensión.

This method explains that it's an easier way to teach reading because once we have learned to read we do it quickly, only looking at the word out of the corner of our eye and without stopping to read letter by letter, 'cause this traditional way slows down the reading and comprehension.

El método incluye muchísimas más estrategias, pero en general les puedo decir que es un método que facilita la lectura y la comprensión, basado en relacionar objeto (palabra escrita) con su significado (palabra pronunciada).

The method includes many more strategies, but in general I can tell you that it's a method that facilitates reading and understanding, based on relating the object (written word) with its meaning (spoken word).
