Oh man what a time to be alive am I right? Trying to raise kids in the middle of a pandemic and for someone only in my mid 30s this is peak adulting right here. I'm not even at the stage where I even know how to dad yet. I'm still in that odd transitional phase of I used to sleep all day and party on weekends to What am I supposed to do with this little human?
Yes I'm progressing in my career and developing but I still feel I am really early in it. I get this because most people I work with didn't even have kids yet. I remember I'd have to hurry home at knock off while many of my colleagues would duck off to the pub on a Friday night.
One of the ways I've been dealing with parenting is doing fun things with the kiddos and planning ways to have them engage and learn about life.

LiL Miss has really enjoyed soccer and I was totally one of those soccer dads on the side lines shouting out (until I was told not too) as you know from my previous post we've been thrown into another lock down due to an outbreak. Fortunately we only had one week hard lock down and restrictions have been easing.
This ment this week we were able to train out doors, the club wasn't open but people were able to use the grounds as they are a community assets.

As soon as we got there lil miss was super excited and ran over to play with the big girls. I thought they were just others doing the same as us but lil miss knew otherwise. The girls that were training were a rival team, a team that lil miss knows about and loves to watch play because she wants to be a soccer player when she grows up 😀
She lined up with the girls team and they took turns striking the goals, she asked me when she could kick like them. I chuckled and said with more practice you will.

I took lil bloke along with us so he can get involved on the action. At one stage he was having a little bit of a temper tantrum and I didn't know what he wanted. I don't have any pictures because I was on my own but I had to hold him upright with feet raised just above the ground and the ball at his feet so he could kick it too! He wanted a turn. We spent a good 20 minutes playing a slow paced kick to kick which totally destroyed my back from being crunched over.

Lil Miss unfortunately lost interest and then returned to practice with the big girls and share their soccer ball while lil bloke and I continued to roll the ball to each other.
Fortunately soccer practice returns this weekend after being suspended for two weeks and were excited to get back to it. I have to admit I was getting a little beside myself as there is only so much one can do before running out of things to entertain the kids.
What are some of the things you've been doing to entertain the kids in lock down and what is some parenting advice for fresh parents. I use the word fresh rather than New because we have a 4 year old and I don't think I can classify myself as still being a new parent.
