As I sit here waiting for little miss to go to sleep so I can get some sleep for work I had a thought in my mind about all the things the kids have broken that has really hurt - not emotionally of course just financially.
This week has been quite hard in itself and it has given me a new perspective on that saying everyone has been quoting "You will own nothing and you will be happy". I gather they were talking about having kids because kids get up to some really.... really.... annoying habits.
This weekend we were left without our main T.V as little miss and little bloke got into a battle of throwing big leggo blocks at each other. I intervened the first time and told them not to throw things around the house or they will hurt someone or break something.
And then our 85 Inch UHD 4K T.V the first time I have ever made a big purchase on a T.V mind you which was only a few months ago is now laying flat broken.
It was quite the funny experience in itself because the kids expected to be able to just "pick it up" and for it to keep working. So now they are left without a TV and in tears because they can't watch anything and the T.V that has replaced it is the size of a computer monitor.
I won't be getting another one anytime soon because quite frankly I don't have the spare funds at current as we wait for our house to finish building and I still need to pay for a drive way. I am not keen on wasting more money for them to potentially do it again.
It's not the only thing the kids have broken and something I still haven't had repaired is my bike. Fortunately mumma bear has a bike so I have been using hers to take the kids out but we can't go out on family bike rides together.
What happened with my bike? Well despite me again telling little miss my bike is not a ladder do not climb it she persisted and put her feet into the spokes and snapped them clean off and not just one. The did it a few times and broke quite a few to the point I can not ride it.
Arghhhh!
Then last weekend she didn't like me looking at her in the rear view mirror of the car as she was up to naught things so she decided to completely snap off the rear view mirror while I was strapping her brother into his baby seat.
I can not parent right now, I want to run away!
But it gave me a thought as when I called up my insurance company for the T.V to see if they covered it the lady chuckled and she said this was the 11th call that day about similar things. Apparently kids toppling T.Vs is a common issue faced.
So I wanted to know, what have your kids broken over the years and how did you handle it?
