Buenos días adorados padres y madres, es un gusto saludarles nuevamente y como cada martes vengo a hablarles un poco de mi experiencia como mamá.
Mi hija mayor Alys utiliza lentes desde hace un año atrás, poniéndolos un poco en contexto ella padece de una enfermedad llamada estrabismo que es desviación en los ojos por causa del astigmatismo ya que posee dificultades para enfocar determinadas imágenes a su alrededor, cuando ella recién cumplía sus tres años empezamos a notar que ella desviaba la mirada cuando veía el televisor, a alguna persona o sencillamente cuando le señalaba algún juguete a su alrededor, debo llevarla a controles cada 3, 6 o 9 meses según me indique la especialista en ésta patología que es una oftalmologa estrabologa para que verifique si aumenta o disminuye la desviación de los ojos.
Ayer fuimos a consulta con la estrabologa que llevaba posponiendo desde hace unas dos semanas desde que estuvo con otras complicaciones médicas, llegamos a la clínica para que fuese atendida donde tuve que agendar una consulta desde hace unos días ya que cada media hora atienden a un paciente y por medidas de precaución por el Covid-19 no hay más de un paciente en la sala de espera, una vez que llegó el turno de Alys y entramos al consultorio la doctora inició la evaluación de la vista donde primero la colocó en un aparato en él cuál debía observar una casa mientras con cada ojo individualmente y el cuál arroja una posible fórmula, luego paso al sillón más grande donde con la luz apagada debía probar con distintas fórmulas aproximadas, debía observar y decir que figuras veía entre ellas un sol, auto y flores, para así poder elegir cuál era la ideal para su vista.
Luego de observar ambos ojos la doctora me informó que el ojo derecho seguía manteniendo la fórmula anterior sin modificación en la desviación pero que en el ojo izquierdo había tenido un retroceso y por lo tanto un aumento de la desviación y la fórmula, sus indicaciones fueron: observar si en casa desviaba el ojo izquierdo mientras utilizaba los lentes, disminuir aún más el uso de las pantallas porque puede empeorar el astigmatismo y causar una patología adicional que es la miopía, utilizar lentes con protección azul para cuando use las pantallas y llevarla nuevamente a consulta dentro de 6 meses.
Por la tarde fuimos a la óptica a elegir unos nuevos lentes ella se sentía bastante contenta porque iba a probarse muchos lentes, luego de probarse varios volvió al color de sus primeros lentes que es el rojo, seguimos las indicaciones de la doctora en cuánto a los cristales con fórmula ideales para Alys y finalmente los lentes tuvieron un costo de 68,43$ al cambió de la moneda local 1.628 BS lo cuál estuvo bastante bien porque agregamos la protección azul y costaron casi igual que los anteriores que solo eran con antireflejo.
Finalmente quiero acotar que los problemas visuales son parte de mi familia por lo tanto son hereditarios, mis hermanos en mayor grado y mis padres en menor grado, pero que todos tenemos y una forma de corregirlo para que no empeore es usando los lentes y en el caso de mi pequeña debo esperar hasta los 6 años para una posible corrección en la desviación con una operación y por los momentos esperamos que sus ojos respondan a la corrección con lentes.

After observing both eyes, the doctor informed me that the right eye still maintained the previous formula without any change in the deviation but that the left eye had regressed and therefore the deviation and the formula had increased. Her instructions were: to observe if the left eye was deviating at home while using the glasses, to reduce the use of the screens even more because it can worsen the astigmatism and cause an additional pathology which is myopia, to use glasses with blue protection for when she uses the screens and to take her again for a consultation in 6 months.
In the afternoon we went to the optician to choose new lenses, she was quite happy because she was going to try on many lenses, after trying on several she returned to the color of her first lenses which is red, we followed the doctor's instructions regarding the ideal formula lenses for Alys and finally the lenses cost $68.43 at the exchange rate of the local currency 1.618 BS which was quite good because we added the blue protection and they cost almost the same as the previous ones which were only with anti-reflective lenses.
Finally I want to point out that visual problems are part of my family so they are hereditary, my brothers to a greater degree and my parents to a lesser degree, but we all have them and one way to correct it so that it does not get worse is using the glasses and in the case of my little girl I have to wait until she is 6 years old for a possible correction in the deviation with an operation and for the moment we hope that her eyes respond to the correction with glasses.
