I saw that even as a dad, I could post in the “Motherhood” community and this post seemed to make the most sense to post here. A holiday tradition in my house is Grinchmas, aka "Grinch Night," as my daughter prefers to call it. My wife and 5 year old daughter both love the Grinch. My youngest son (1 1/2) loves any treats and family activities, so he really enjoyed it this year. And my 15 year old son even got into the spirit, coming over from his mom's house to help us make Grinch Heart Rice Krispie Treats and Grinch Poop cookies. Yes, the name could use some work lol...I have been told that I sometimes act like the Grinch before his heart grew 3 sizes, so I relate to the guy as well. My wife and I have done some paintings with a Grinch theme in the past as well.
The two youngest wear their Grinch pajamas.
We bake Grinch Poop Cookies a day or two ahead of time (you an use any sugar cookie recipe, red and green food coloring- 1 green sugar cookie batch and 1 red sugar cookie batch to intertwine, and a clear glaze) and then the Rice Krispie Treats the day of. I think Rice Krispie treats just taste better when they are freshly made. We also have green Grinch punch (green Hawaiian punch and Sprite).
Our Grinch dinner this year was not very Grinchy. I made some smoked ribs on the Traeger, so we had those, mashed potatoes, and beans. Despite not being Grinch-themed, I heard zero complaints.
After we eat, we set up the living room to watch one of the Grinch movies. This year we went with the original, after some debate. My oldest son prefers the newer, 2018 version, but my wife and daughter outvoted him. Can't go wrong with a classic!
What traditions do you do with your families this time of year? I think my next post will likely be about our Elf on the Shelf tradition, which I am sure many others take part in as well.
