Promoting a child’s talents and success on stage? Ah! I always love to be involved in supporting my son in whatever activities he has not to mention that during The Musicals, and Christmas Show in their school, I was dedicated to embracing my role as a stage mother.
What a great moment watching my son perform on stage during the Christmas Show of Lifehouse Montessori Academy. The Christmas Show was so wonderful as the children gave life to popular movies and animations through singing, dancing, acting, and performing on stage that was held at the Manolo Fortich Gymnasium in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, Philippines.
Montessori’s way is quite different from traditional school in terms of the leveling of children. In their school, there are Casa 1 and Casa 2 children which are like kindergarten students in the traditional school. Level 1 students are those children who belong to Grades 1 to 3 while Level 2 students are those children who belong to Grades 4 to 6. And then the Junior High School Students from Grade 7 to Grade 10.
When I heard about the Christmas Show event during the Parent-Teacher Conference, I was informed by his teacher that he wanted to join in the "Mary Poppins" Musical play. Good thing they were given freedom on what musical play they wanted to join. The teacher then showed me the possible costumes that they would wear. And so, I bought him a costume at a mall that was similar to the outfits for the stage play.
On the day of the Christmas show, the program was hosted by awesome Junior High School students with cat-like looks since at the finale, they will be performing a stage play titled, “Cats”.
As usual, before the program started there were a few reminders on the do’s and don’ts during the show. And when everyone settled down, the show started with a prayer, followed by the National Anthem, and then an opening remarks from the School’s Administrator.
When the program finally opened, a series of dance productions were performed by the Casa 1 students. And here are some quick shots of their performance.
How cute the kids were and they were so eager to dance on stage. That priceless moment seeing cute little kids performing on stage with all their best made me delighted for a moment. I so love the choice of music and their costumes were truly so colorful with the vibrant colors of Christmas.
Aside from the happy faces of the kids, the stage was even more lively with the amazing spectrum of colors of the stage lighting. For every presentation, it changes according to the theme of the performance. And while the Casa 1 children were performing, I saw their teacher also performing downstairs so they were guided on what to do.
After the presentation of the Casa 1 children, here comes the Casa 2 Children in vibrant red colors with their Christmas Dance presentation. They were all so cute in red and I have seen that their teacher was also dancing downstairs while they performed on stage.
Meanwhile, the hosts came back on stage to give praise and acknowledgments to the first set of performers on stage which were the Casa 1 and 2 children. And here comes the Level 1 and 2 children with their Musical Stage Play.
The Level 1 kids performed “Moanna” and “Beauty and the Beast”. They were truly so good at performing arts. And I love how they acted, danced, sang, and performed based on the play. Here are a few shots of their amazing performance while playing on stage.
Their performance was truly incredible. It is so surprising to watch them all at their best. Everything was amazing and I did not notice the time passed by.
After the Level 1 child performed on stage, the Level 2 children surprised everyone with the stage play about "Wizard of Oz" and "Mary Poppins". My son loved to join in the Mary Poppins stage play because he wanted the execution of the long word in the play.
The stage play was superb! The kids were so good in their performance that everybody was amazed. And the story of the Wizard of Oz play was also very interesting which added excitement to the audience.
Next to the presentation was my son's participation in the Mary Poppins musical play. What he loves about this play is the trivia about the long word, SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS.
During their practices, he said to me that the steps were complex and that he needed to practice more. And when he performed on stage, I was so happy watching him so good at doing body gestures of the long word, letter by letter as fast as he could.
I was amazed that he did his best to master the body gestures. Their presentation was also incredible just like the other plays and I so love the main character who performed the character of Mary Poppins since she was so enthusiastic.
And finally, the Junior High School had its Finale with the "Cats" Musical play. It was a thrilling presentation and I was also amazed by their performance.
When the program was over, I took a photo of my son with a beautiful background on stage with his colorful costume. And he was so happy then since it was finally their Christmas vacation.
After the event, he requested that we have our dinner at his favorite food chain, which is the Jollibee. We went outside and captured a moment together.
Perhaps it was one of the best moments in a day of my life as a mom. Here's to more events with my son as he performs on stage. I was so happy seeing him coming out from his shell and was even surprised by his development and achievements in school.
