Baby Bee and Christmas (Eng/Esp)

Today is Christmas Eve, a time for family gatherings and fond memories, often recalling loved ones who are no longer with us. When this date arrives, it is inevitable to feel nostalgic, as our gaze and thoughts turn to years past, when we were children and this season was one of joy and high expectations as we waited for the Baby Jesus. The Nativity scene, Christmas tree, lights, and holiday food were all part of the tradition.

Today we gather again as a family, with little Alma as the center of attention, because Christmas should be seen through the eyes of children, so that she can perceive what we have inherited from our ancestors. We all sit at the table to prepare hallacas, and I can't help but remember when I used to help my grandmother, who was always in charge of the stew, while my other relatives did the rest of the work. Looking back takes me back to those years. I can see the dining room table full of ingredients and utensils, and there was the family together, celebrating the values of this time of year.

Today, at my parents' house, we also made hallacas for tonight's dinner. Of course, it was a more modest and intimate preparation, but with an equally special meaning, as we had little Alma helping us and tasting everything on the table. As you know, she is my star guest and loves to taste my recipes.

The baby is happy because she knows that tonight she will receive the gifts that the baby Jesus will bring her. She is already forming sentences and recognizes all the Christmas characters. She is attracted to the Christmas tree with its colorful lights and the decorations we have at home.

Seeing their happiness is our greatest reward, especially after we have gone through great trials. Their life is a miracle, and today we are as grateful as we were on the first day. That is why I invite you to hug all your family members tonight, especially the little ones in the house. It is up to us to give them a Merry Christmas so that they will remember us fondly.

Hoy es Nochebuena, un momento de unión familiar y de muchos recuerdos, por lo regular se rememoran a seres queridos que ahora no están presentes. Cuando llega esta fecha es inevitable llenarse de nostalgia, la mirada y los pensamientos se trasladan a años anteriores, cuando éramos niños y esta época era de alegría y muchas expectativas esperando al Niño Jesús. El Nacimiento, arbolito, luces y comida navideña eran tradición.

Hoy nos volvemos a reunir en familia, con la pequeña Alma como centro de atención, porque la Navidad debe ser vista desde los ojos de los niños, para que ella perciba lo que hemos heredado de nuestros ancestros. Nos sentamos todos en la mesa a preparar hallacas y no puedo evitar recordar cuando ayudaba a mi abuela, quien siempre se encargaba del guiso, mientras mis otros familiares cumplían el resto de la tarea. La retrospección me lleva a aquellos años, puedo ver la mesa del comedor llena de ingredientes y utensilios y allí estaba la unión familiar, enalteciendo los valores de estas fechas.

En el presente, en casa de mis padres también hicimos hallacas para la cena de esta noche, por supuesto, una preparación más modesta e íntima, pero con un significado igual de especial, pues teníamos a la pequeña Alma muy activa ayudándonos y probando todo lo que había en la mesa, como saben ella es mi comensal estrella y le encanta degustar mis recetas.

La bebé está feliz porque sabe que esta noche recibirá los regalos que le traerá el niño Jesús. Ya forma oraciones y reconoce a todos los personajes navideños. A ella le llaman la atención el árbol de Navidad con las luces coloridas y la decoración que tenemos en casa.

Ver su felicidad es nuestra mayor recompensa, sobre todo, después que hemos pasado por grandes pruebas. Su vida es un milagro y hoy lo agradecemos como el primer día, por eso los invito a abrazar esta noche a todos sus familiares y en especial a los pequeños de la casa, depende de nosotros que ellos tengan una Feliz Navidad para que también nos recuerden con mucho cariño.
