Baby Bee; la gran noticia (Esp/Ing)

Mi maternidad ha enfrentado muchos desafíos y mi familia Hive ha estado apoyándome en todo momento con sus palabras de aliento, muestras de afecto y generosidad. Han caminado conmigo a lo largo de este recorrido que me ha dejado recuerdos y aprendizaje, por tal razón, vuelvo a reiterar mi agradecimiento por lo que han hecho por Baby Bee.

My motherhood has faced many challenges and my Hive family has been supporting me at all times with their words of encouragement, affection and generosity. They have walked with me along this journey that has left me with memories and learning, for this reason, I reiterate my gratitude for what they have done for Baby Bee.

Como he expuesto con anterioridad, Alma ha estado en control neurológico desde sus primeras semanas de nacimiento, gracias a ello se diagnosticó temprano una craneosinostosis en las suturas coronales. A los dos meses de edad, y tras una gran muestra de solidaridad, ella fue sometida a una delicada intervención quirúrgica.

As I have previously stated, Alma has been under neurological control since her first weeks of birth, thanks to which a craniosynostosis of the coronal sutures was diagnosed early. At two months of age, and after a great show of solidarity, she underwent a delicate surgical intervention.

Meses después, luego del período de recuperación, se acudió nuevamente al neurocirujano para la revisión postoperatoria. Se realizó una nueva tomografía y entre los hallazgos se encontró el cierre prematuro de las suturas que fueron abiertas en la operación. La buena noticia en esta oportunidad fue que su cerebro no lucía comprometido, lo que generó una luz de esperanza ante este otro escenario que se nos presentaba.

Months later, after the recovery period, the neurosurgeon was consulted again for postoperative revision. A new CT scan was performed and among the findings was the premature closure of the sutures that were opened during the operation. The good news this time was that his brain did not look compromised, which generated a light of hope in the face of this other scenario that was presented to us.

Hemos permanecido siempre aferrados a la fe, asistiendo a las terapias de estimulación temprana y cumpliendo con las indicaciones y los tratamientos. Al estar próxima a cumplir su primer año, el neurocirujano indicó que se requería de otra tomografía y su respectiva reconstrucción en 3D para analizar cómo está creciendo el cráneo de la niña y si existe algún riesgo interno. Hace unos días realizamos este estudio y debo confesar que estaba muy nerviosa, acompañé a la pequeña en la camilla del tomógrafo para tratar de tranquilizarla, sin embargo, no fue posible pese a mis intentos de acariciarla, mirarla fijamente y cantarle.

We have always kept faith, attending early stimulation therapies and complying with the indications and treatments. As she is about to celebrate her first birthday, the neurosurgeon indicated that another tomography and its respective 3D reconstruction were required to analyze how the child's skull is growing and if there is any internal risk. A few days ago we performed this study and I must confess that I was very nervous, I accompanied the little girl on the CT scanner table to try to calm her down, however, it was not possible despite my attempts to caress her, stare at her and sing to her.

Después de un rato, logré que se calmara -se aprecia que todavía permanece traumatizada por la operación- y se logró realizar la tomografía. Ella ahora no es la bebé recién nacida que antes se enfrentó a este gran aparato, ahora es muy activa y capta cuando algo es anormal en su cotidianidad y reacciona ante ello.

After a while, I managed to calm her down -she is still traumatized by the operation- and the CT scan was performed. She is no longer the newborn baby who faced this big device before, she is now very active and picks up when something is abnormal in her daily life and reacts to it.

Admito que una vez que me entregaron los resultados estaba tan nerviosa que busqué en internet el significado de cada término que desconocía, lo que me dejó desconcertada. Al día siguiente, acudimos a la consulta con el neurocirujano, quien procedió de inmediato a evaluar a la bebé en lo que respecta a su desarrollo físico, emocional y neuronal.

I admit that once I was given the results I was so nervous that I searched the internet for the meaning of each term I did not know, which left me bewildered. The next day, we went for a consultation with the neurosurgeon, who immediately proceeded to evaluate the baby in terms of her physical, emotional and neural development.

Cuando el doctor analizó la tomografía y leyó el informe sentí un leve ataque de pánico y abracé con fuerzas a la bebé, por mi mente desfilaron recuerdos desgarradores que todavía no logro disipar, mi corazón se aceleró y respiraba con dificultad. Las primeras imágenes en pantalla reflejaban cierre de las fontanelas y en la sutura izquierda, además de cicatrización prematura de los huesos que están sobre la cavidad ocular, por tal razón, se puede observar que la niña tiene el ojo izquierdo más grande que el derecho.

When the doctor analyzed the tomography and read the report I felt a slight panic attack and I hugged the baby tightly, heartbreaking memories paraded through my mind that I still cannot dissipate, my heart accelerated and I was breathing with difficulty. The first images on the screen showed closure of the fontanelles and the left suture, as well as premature scarring of the bones above the eye socket, for this reason, it can be seen that the girl's left eye is larger than the right.

Cuando el médico realizó el análisis de la parte interna llegó a la conclusión de que el cerebro y el cerebelo estaban perfectos, el crecimiento de ambos lóbulos es normal y no existen riesgos de verse comprometidos por la bóveda craneal, aclaró que los términos aparecidos en el informe se refieren a cierta disposición de los órganos y en este caso todo luce adecuado para la edad de Alma.

When the doctor performed the analysis of the internal part, he concluded that the brain and cerebellum were perfect, the growth of both lobes is normal and there is no risk of being compromised by the cranial vault. He clarified that the terms in the report refer to a certain disposition of the organs and in this case everything looks appropriate for Alma's age.

Las palabras me tranquilizaron a pesar de iniciar su exposición con el cierre de las suturas porque luego explicó que es un proceso que generalmente inicia poco antes de cumplir el año, así que, una vez comprobado que el cráneo mantiene simetría, manifestó que para el tiempo que tiene Alma se puede considerar normal. Su cabeza va a seguir creciendo porque la otra sutura y algunas aberturas, conocidas como islas, siguen sin cerrarse.

His words reassured me despite the fact that he began his presentation with the closing of the sutures, because he then explained that this is a process that generally begins shortly before the age of one year, so, once he verified that the skull maintains symmetry, he stated that for Alma's age, it can be considered normal. Her head will continue to grow because the other suture and some openings, known as islands, have not yet closed.

Solamente nos sugirió acudir a un cirujano estético para plantear la operación que pueda corregir la asimetría en su ojo izquierdo, por lo demás encontró a la bebé en buen estado, lo que me reconfortó al instante. Mis lágrimas en este caso fueron de felicidad. Gracias a Dios y a esta gran comunidad hoy puedo compartir esta gran noticia.

He only suggested that we go to a cosmetic surgeon to consider the operation that could correct the asymmetry in her left eye, otherwise he found the baby in good condition, which comforted me instantly. My tears in this case were of happiness. Thanks to God and to this great community, today I can share this great news.
