One of my favorite things about Christmas (aside from the food) are the decorations, specifically those involving those little lights that are synonymous for me with joy and happiness and on Monday I discovered that our second home, the Plaza de La Asunción, was dressed in lights and what a way!

Hello #motherhood friends, today is Christmas and we can smell the school vacations at last! I hope you are having a great week. As for me, on this side of the world, after a long break Miranda went back to school on Monday as well as the rest of her activities and on Tuesday we were able to enjoy the beautiful spaces of the Plaza de La Asunción.
As you know my children have their after school activities around the square of the capital of our state Nueva Esparta, since in many of my posts you have read me talking about it and the amount of hours we spend there every week while the children are in their classes.
And every week our routine starts on Monday with Miranda's violin lessons in the orchestra. For this I pick her up from school at noon and we go to the plaza where we usually have lunch and wait for class to start.
That day I noticed that the square had changed! It was completely decorated with beautiful lights in all its spaces but as it was very early they were not on and could not be seen in all its splendor, but I would not have to wait long to see them shine because the next day the children had to go again and we would be there from three to six in the afternoon, so the lights would be on!

Por mi parte, en éste ladito del mundo después de cumplir un reposo largo Miranda se incorporó el lunes al colegio así como al resto de sus actividades y el día martes pudimos disfrutar de lo bello que están los espacios de la plaza de La Asunción.
Como saben mis hijos tienen sus actividades extraescolares en los alrededores de la plaza de la capital de nuestro estado Nueva Esparta, ya que en muchos de mis posts me han leído hablar sobre ella y de la cantidad de horas que semanalmente pasamos en ella mientras los niños están en sus clases.
Y cada semana nuestra rutina inicia el mismo lunes con las clases de violín de Miranda en la orquesta. Para ésto la retiro del colegio a medio día y nos vamos a la plaza donde solemos almorzar y esperamos llegue la hora de entrar a clases.
Ése día pude notar que la plaza había cambiado! Estaba completamente decorada con bellísimas luces en todos sus espacios pero como era muy temprano no estaban encendidas ni podían verse en todo su esplendor, pero no tendría que esperar mucho para verlas brillar ya que al día siguiente los niños debían ir nuevamente y estaríamos desde las tres hasta las seis de la tarde, por lo que las luces estarían encendidas!
Of course the kids were anxious because it was actually ALL decorated. The trees had lights, they made a nativity scene with hand painted rocks which is really cute and very original. Lots of little Christmas trees and stars everywhere you look, but the main attraction is a huge fully lit tree finished with a star, so we were waiting for it to get dark to enjoy the show.
And at five in the afternoon finally the lights were present but at that time the sun had not yet gone down completely, so they were not appreciated very well, but still, in my characteristic impatience and anxiety I went to take pictures that in the end I did not like (as expected!) and when it got dark I decided to take many more.
It was close to six o'clock in the evening and everything began to come to life as if by magic. I even felt the air change, the atmosphere felt different and I promise you that I was overcome with happiness. I really love Christmas and I enjoy every little thing and seeing the square like this, so beautiful and full of bright lights, I don't know why, but it filled me with great joy as it usually happens every Christmas.
Por supuesto los niños estaban ansiosos porque en realidad estaba TODO decorado. Los árboles tenían luces, hicieron un pesebre con rocas pintadas a mano que está realmente lindo y muy original. Muchos árboles de navidad pequeños y estrellas a donde mires, pero la atracción principal es un árbol enorme completamente iluminado terminado con una estrella, así que estábamos deseando oscureciera para disfrutar el espectáculo.
Y a las cinco de la tarde finalmente las luces se hicieron presentes pero a esa hora aún el sol no se había ocultado por completo, por lo que no se apreciaban muy bien, pero aún así, en mi impaciencia y ansiedad características me fui a tomar fotos que al final no me gustaron (como era de suponerse!) y cuando oscureció decidí tomar muchas más.
Ya cerquita de las seis de la tarde todo comenzó a cobrar vida como por arte de magia. Es que yo sentí hasta que el aire cambió, el ambiente se sintió distinto y les prometo que me invadió una felicidad enorme. Yo realmente amo la Navidad y disfruto cada pequeña cosa y ver la plaza así, tan hermosa y llena de luces brillantes, no sé por qué, pero me llenó de una gran alegría como suele suceder cada Navidad.
As a central focus is the huge Christmas tree that you can see from every corner of the square with lots and lots of lights and of course I couldn't stop taking some pictures with my kids, not only to share with you but to fill our arsenal of memories a little more.

I must say that apart from the tree my favorites were the big stars full of lights in which I took a lot of pictures because I really loved them.
The kids on the other hand liked the small Christmas trees with other kind of lights that looked very nice and that like the stars were distributed all over the square.
Como foco central está el enorme árbol de Navidad que puedes ver desde cada rinconcito de la plaza con muchísimas luces y por supuesto no podía dejar de tomar algunas fotografías con mis niños, no sólo para compartir con ustedes sino para llenar nuestro arsenal de recuerdos un poquito más.
Algunas selfies con mi niño Matias que gracias a la magia de la Navidad no se quejó (no le gustan las fotos) y otras más posando en las distintas decoraciones.
Debo decir que aparte del árbol mis favoritas fueron unas estrellas grandes llenas de luces en las que tomé muchísimas fotos porque de verdad las amé.
A los niños por otro lado les gustaron unos pequeños árboles de navidad con otro tipo de luces que se veían muy bonitos y que al igual que las estrellas estaban distribuidas por todos los espacios de la plaza.
To end the tour we could not miss the photo in the name of La Asuncion. Those huge letters that are now in fashion and that of course is one of the main attractions of the square when taking pictures and from that place you have a beautiful view of the entire square.
It was really a surprise for everyone to see it like this, because last year they did absolutely nothing because of the pandemic, I assume, although the truth is that it has been a long time since the island was seen with so many Christmas decorations and it is something that we were all missing. Especially the children, since at Christmas time we used to go all over the municipality taking pictures of the different decorations and nativity scenes that were in each town.
So it really was a very special afternoon for them and for me who, as my husband says, seemed more excited than the kids. He for his part is a bit of a Grinch and doesn't get too excited about Christmas, except for the food. But even though it wasn't team Christmas we had a lovely afternoon as a family, walking around the square and creating beautiful moments of the return of the lights to our streets.

Ya para finalizar el recorrido no podía faltar la foto en el nombre de La Asunción. Ésas enormes letras que ahora están de moda y que por supuesto es de los principales atractivos de la plaza al momento de tomar las fotografías y es que desde ése lugar se tiene una vista hermosa de toda la plaza.
Realmente para todos fue una sorpresa verla así, porque el año pasado no hicieron absolutamente nada por tema pandemia asumo, aunque la verdad hace mucho que no se veía la Isla con tantas decoraciones navideñas y es algo que todos estábamos extrañando. Sobre todo los niños, ya que en Navidad hacíamos un recorrido por todo el municipio tomando foto en las distintas decoraciones y pesebres que se encontraban en cada pueblo.
Por lo que realmente fue una tarde muy especial para ellos y para mí que como dice mi esposo, parecía más emocionada que los niños. El por su parte es medio Grinch y no le causa mucha emoción el tema de la Navidad, salvo por la comida. Pero a pesar de no ser team Navidad pasamos una tarde muy linda en familia, recorriendo la plaza y creando lindos momentos del regreso de las luces a nuestras calles.
