Raising a boy to become a good man in the future...
My kid playing with a little girl
How to raise a good man that is the question I ask myself from the day I found out I was having a boy, and is something that scares me to crew up, I have younger brothers but I didn’t grow up living with them so this was a whole new territory for me, luckily I have his dad to help me with the whole raising a child so I'm not alone in this huge task and my mother in law who raise 5 boys all on her own as a single mom and to be honest they all turn out a little bit crazy but good men LMAO, specially the dad of my kid. So in my case I think I just focus on what I want as a woman for men to know and how to act around me. The most important things for me that he knows are:
1. Teaching him girls are his equals
But not in a extreme feminazi kind of way, is ok to be a gentlemen and have courtesy gestures but also to know a girl is as capable of doing anything as he is.
2. Don’t do what you don’t want to be done to yourself
This is important not only with girls but to be a decent kind of human being, don’t do others what you don’t want to be done to you, this way you know you can’t hurt other people or be disrespectful and not expect the same treatment from people to you.
3. You don’t touch girls not even with the petal of a rose
This is popular saying in my country and is important to know that even if a girl/woman does you wrong in the worse possible way, you are suppose to be the better person and boy/man and don’t even think on touching her to make her harm.
4. Support and empower girls/women
Now this is a little bit hard since well he is only 2 years old to be able to understand me right on this but is something I have already try and teach him about, how is always important to support and empower even little girls in the playground, by just cheering them on whatever they may be doing or trying to accomplish.
5. To be a Gentleman
Now this for me sums up all the important things a man should be, treat well and with respect a woman, allows her to be independent yet is protective of her and helps her in whatever she wants to accomplish without be too intrusive, this is something I like I said have help on teaching him with the good example that is his dad.
I don’t know how all my work with him will turn out but I'm pretty sure I will try my best to make him a man of good and to treat women the right way. To just be the real life prince charming he is to me right now to all the other women in his life too.
