5 Tips to help you with breastfeeding
1. - Get Comfortable While Nursing,
This is the most important thing to do, especially while starting and learning the different positions that work for you and the baby, don’t ever breastfeed on a position that you don’t feel comfortable it will make you feel stress out and it won’t help you at all with the milk production or your baby to latch on the right way.
2. - Relax,
Next thing is be as relax and stress free as you can be, as much as you want to breastfeed and your baby may be in the right position and doing all the right things if you are stress out it can cause you to not produce milk at all, so keep that in mind and try and relax as hard as it can be with a new born at home, the breastfeeding time should be sacred and an alone time for just the baby and mama to enjoy.
3. - Help Your Baby Find The Right Position,
Getting comfortable is not only about you the baby needs to find the right position for him/her to latch on too, some babyes like to be on top of mom, some on their side, try it out a test and error trial is the best thing to do until you 2 find the best position that works for both of you, until ultimately your baby ends up putting his feet on your face while latching on upside down to your breasts (that is my baby favorite position now that his is older) it may not sound comfortable but lol somehow I got used to this and is comfortable now.
4. - Don't Worry, You'll Have Enough Milk,
The milk is not storage on the breast as much as it may seem like this, is produce on demand by the breast glands and this is the most important thing to learn and understand then you`ll know how important is to feed your baby on demand whenever he/she wants and for how long they want, this is the only thing that will help you increase your milk production.
If your breast have your baby constantly latching or you use an extractor they will produce milk, if on the other hand you make your baby drink form a bottle he/she will be full and wont need to latch on and your breast will eventually stop producing enough milk cause they wont have any demand for it.
5.- Be patient and persistent,
Don’t give up and seek professional help if you feel like is not working for you, breast milk is the best option for your baby and you it has so many health benefices that to not enjoy that just cause you feel like is not working out for you both the way you wanted shouldn’t the cause not to do it.
Also, don't listen to others opinions on what you and your baby need to do or not, if your baby wants to be constantly latching on to you is normal and this doesn't mean you are not feeding him/her enough is their stomach is small and the breast milk is process by their body really quickly so they will want to eat again very often.
Always do you, is your body and nobody should have a say on what it happens on it or what you do with it so, if you don't want to breastfeed your baby is also ok, and nobody should judge you for it, your breast your decision.
always seek help by professionals if need it, a Doula is the best to give you guidance a pediatrician who supports breastfeeding is also a good option, your family sometimes don't mean bad but don't give the best advice.
