Who sat and watched my infant head
When sleeping on my cradle bed,
And tears of sweet affection shed?
My Mother.
When pain and sickness made me cry,
Who gazed upon my heavy eye,
And wept for fear that I should die?
My Mother.
Who taught my infant lips to pray
And love God’s holy book and day,
And walk in wisdom’s pleasant way?
My Mother.
And can I ever cease to be
Affectionate and kind to thee,
Who wast so very kind to me,
My Mother?
Ah, no! the thought I cannot bear,
And if God please my life to spare
I hope I shall reward they care,
My Mother.
When thou art feeble, old and grey,
My healthy arm shall be thy stay,
And I will soothe thy pains away,
My Mother. Ann Taylor
Words are not enough to express how grateful I am towards my parents specifically my mom. Every time I write about my mom or anything that has to do with my mom, I always have teary eyes but I am hoping not to this time while writing this article.
However and whatever I am or become later in the nearest future, I owe it to my parents. They are the best thing I received as a little baby when I arrived on planet earth, this is why anywhere, anything my gratitude always goes to them, first and foremost. They are the key determinant to how I am or how my life has turned out to me.
MY MOTHER!
My mother is the calmest person I know, I guess the name Peace was a better fit for her.
Thanks to Ann Taylor's poem I could convey my words better.
My mom sat and watched my infant's head. She did everything possible in her might to groom, nurture and train this little one in love. She Provided my needs and not my wants. Life is never fair but there are always ways to make it a bit fair for natural existence.
My mom denied me some things as a child but the truth is, she provided me with most of my basic needs.
I wasn't a spoilt little brat to say, not born with a silver spoon but got most of the things I needed.
When pain and sickness make me cry?
Even now, my mom is very much considerate about my health and well-being. A few months ago, I was sick to the point of death. My parents ran helter-skelter to make sure I was nurtured back to life, my mom spent the night praying for me when it seemed I was losing my breath.
Who taught my infant lips to pray?
I still reminisce those moments she taps and calls us up for prayers. How we slept off while praying and even singing. She taught us how to pray and what to pray for. She admonished us about living right and pleasing God thereby bringing us up in the fear of God.
And if God please my life to spare?
All my life, I wish to live and reward my mom for all the care and love she showered on me.
The only way I can repay her for all her affection. I know I can't pay her for everything she had done for me and still doing, yet, successful life is all I pray for so that I can reward my mom for all she has done for me.
When she is feeble, old, and grey?
A time to open my healthy hands and held her as she held me when I was just an infant.
Same love and care will I give back to my old and feeble mom.
I can go on and on but like I said, everything I have to say in words and actions is well conveyed in the poem I shared by Ann Taylor
My sincere gratitude goes out to my mom, for being the best mom and one of a kind. Thank you MOM!
Even though you won't read this, I will never stop thanking you for all that you have done for me.
For having to endure everything, the winds of life, the storm, trials, troubles, all because of I and my siblings.
I pray that you live long and well stricken in age to reap the fruits of your hard labor.
My FATHER!
The Hero, my pillar, a fighter. He is everything I desire in a future husband:)
When I was a child, I used to pray that the man I want to marry, be like my father but when I grew up I realized I didn't want my husband to be like my father, but rather to have most of those qualities and attributes I like about him as a father and a husband to my mother.
Without a father figure in my life, I don't know how my life would have been. Perhaps I would have been over-pampered by my mom and who knows? if I would have been spoilt lol. We know a mother tends to love a child so much that most times they forget to do the needful and that is disciplining a child when he or she goes wrong.
This is when a father steps in as a disciplinarian and I can tell you for a fact that my dad is a great one. He treats your fuck up with no mercy hahaha. A typical Nigerian would understand better hahaha. All the same, my dad is the reason for my best behavior.
When you know that you have someone who wouldn't spare you when you misbehave then you are sure to act your best and not fall victim lol.
That will be registered in your subconscious mind and every time you go astray, you remember FATHER and if you must do something, you ask yourself again Will my father permit me to do this thing? Will he be happy if I did? Will I be scolded?
If you answer those questions then you are good to go.
My dad takes up a great percentage for my good behavior and I can't do anything that I will end up being lashed haha.
I am grateful to my dad for being the best and great disciplinarian, for not sparing me those lashes when its necessary or needed.
For grooming and training me to the girl I am today, Thank you DAD!
For being a hero, a pillar to the family and loving us this much, and providing us with our needs, Thank you.
I wouldn't forget to use this opportunity to thank Community Team and members for such a wonderful opportunity to show our gratitude to our parents and guardians.
And also I shout out to all the parents and guardians out there. May the good Lord continue to reward your labor of love, Amen!.
