At long last, I found a new species of mushroom to post! π
I've been sort of (minor) grumbling about always only finding one type of shrooms around here, when lo and behold, sis reported a new specie she saw earlier on her walk that morning...
Alas, she only remembered to tell me late in the evening, and when I went to look at them, it was night, and being in a dark spot, I shot some with my phone camera with flash, but of course it wasn't anything very impressive...
I went back today, armed with my camera and lens (that I'm still testing out)... and this is what I found...
Found this one which seems to have been knocked over
Either by an insensitive hooman...
or it just fell over, maybe due to the weight of its over-big head (the cap, I mean)!
Which was a good thing - no complaints
This allowed me to get a wonderful view of its gills...
Btw it was sitting pretty ON the road!
No kidding!
A patch of soil that escaped the grassy road shoulder... where grass also grew
And the shrooms followed!
You can see the yellow of the road kerb here
Front view
The edges look so much like durians.... lol
The thorns of the durian anyway
Creamy... and soft
Yeah, I touched them!
The gills, and the tops
Kinda foamy
Clouds... π
Okay, I am fascinated with the gills...
Totally impressed/obsessed!
Don't they remind you of meringues?
The ones they torch... lol... errr, brown, I mean!
Another angle
(to convince the unconvinced)
Seeee...........?!!!
See what I mean...
Meringues!
Torched meringues!!
And this is the little patch where I found the torched meringue
and that's the yellow of the road bump!
I'm so glad no car rolled over them...
And this happens to be my first post in #FungiLovers,
on 's #FungiFriday!
Shroom on, all fungi fans... π
