Who wants to see Fieldcaps, False Parasols, and Japanese Umbrella mushrooms in every Fungi Lovers post? Not me. Probably not many other viewers either, would be my guess.
Without getting out into a more rural setting, I have already posted most of the Fungus I'm likely to find. But Wednesday was an exception and I've saved those pics to share with you today.
Although the fungi was no more than forty yards from our garage, I might have missed it but for my son, Devin. You see, I haven't really been looking too much of late.
All I can find are Common Fieldcaps!
At The Base Of A Tree On The Hillside
Back to Devin. He's been homeschooling because authorities still won't let Highschoolers return to school facilities. And who (besides me) can stay inside all day today in front of a screen? Definitely not Devin!
He captured a couple pics and showed me, to my surprise. Then I just had to know where he had found such an awesome fungal specimen! Right out back, he said!!! So off we went.
What in the heck is that abnormal growth at the base of that tree? Doesn't look too yummy, but who knows? We decided to leave it be, taking with us nothing but photos.
Looks like lips or pancakes! Anyone know what this one might be called? Is it edible? Why has it chosen the tree to grow off of? All these questions and more come to mind!
One last shot for you here. I tried to get as low as possible from the downhill position. The layers look cool from underneath...
Thanks for viewing.
Happy Fungi Friday and as always...
