Edible and Poisonous Mushrooms
Mushroom season is here. There are tasty-looking mushrooms, grotesque-looking ones, pretty-looking ones, and more. I love all kinds of mushrooms, but sometimes we have to be very careful when checking them. On my property, there are some mushrooms growing next to or near the trees.
Books about mushrooms are useful, but my phone is also handy. However, when I want detailed information, books are more trustworthy. Yet, the photos in books aren't always helpful because they often feature only one image of each mushroom. As you know, a mushroom can change its shape and appearance over time. It's always necessary to check and research carefully. If I'm not familiar with a mushroom or unsure about it, I don't eat it.
These are Bolete mushrooms that were growing next to an old, big tree on my driveway. There are quite a few edible Bolete mushrooms. I often miss the chance to eat them because almost every time I find one, it's already been bitten or has started to rot. They look like big, yummy bread.
These are ash-tree bolete mushrooms. I often eat them with pasta, stir-fries, or other dishes. They are a bit bitter but still tasty.
Wow! This is my first time seeing Poison Fire Coral on my property. They looked so creepy. At first, I thought my husband and I had dropped a crayon or something between the wood deck. It was very vivid red, just like the photos I've seen.
When I took a closer look, I thought they were fingers or something. I even considered that someone might have dropped gloves or something like that. Then, I realized it was a mushroom. I immediately felt that I shouldn't touch it.
I believe this belongs to the Coral fungi family. It is poisonous. My husband quickly removed it before our dog noticed it. If eaten, it can cause a very strong reaction. Phew... it looked like something out of a horror movie, like bloody fingers sticking out between the wood decks.

食用と毒キノコ
きのこの季節です。おいしそうなきのこ、グロテスクなきのこ、かわいらしいきのこなどが生えています。基本的にどのきのこも好きですが、ときおりよく注意して慎重に見極める必要があると思っています。家にも木の横や近くにきのこが生えています。
この本からくわしいきのこ情報がもらえるので便利ですが、スマホの情報も便利です。ところが、詳しい正確な情報が欲しい場合は本の方が確実です。しかし、本に載っている写真はだいたい１枚しかありませんし、自然の中にある生き物は常に見た目が変化するので少ない写真情報だけでは物足りません。よく調べて慎重になる必要があります。私は確かではないものは絶対食べません。
これはポルチーニ（イグチ科）きのこで、私道の古い大きな木の横に生えています。ポルチーニはたいてい食用のものが多いです。いつも見つけた時はすでに何者かがかじった後があるか、腐ってしまっていてチャンスを逃します。大きくておいしいパンのような見た目です。
これはアッシュツリーボレテ（これもポルチーニの一種ですね、おそらく）です。これはよくパスタや炒め物にして食べます。少し苦いですがおいしいです。
おぉ！これは敷地内では初めて見かけました。おそらくカエンタケだと思います。気味の悪い見た目です。初めは主人が自分がクレヨンか何かをウッドデッキの隙間に落としたのだろうと思いました。写真でもわかるようにとても鮮やかな赤でした。
さらに近づいてみると、人の指よのうに見えました。誰かが落とした手袋の指先なのかと思ったほどです。そして次の瞬間、きのこだと把握しました。触ってはいけない！と瞬時に思いました。
サンゴ菌類だと思います。猛毒です。犬が見つける前に主人がとって捨てたようです。もし食べると体にひどい反応が起こるようです。ふぅ…ホラー映画のセットにあるような真っ赤な血だらけの指かなにかがウッドデッキの隙間からのぞいているようで、不気味でした。
