Hola Hivers and welcome to the weekend.
I am a big fan of fungi, I had some exotic mushrooms for dinner and that got to me thinking that I should post some of the fungi finds that I found in my local park.
Unfortunately, I do not know all the names, perhaps somebody could help me?
Turkey Tails are Trametes versicolor (also known as Coriolus versicolor and Polyporus versicolor) is a common polypore mushroom found throughout the world. Meaning 'of several colors', versicolor reliably describes this fungus that displays different colors.
I found out that Turkey Tails contain a variety of powerful antioxidants and other compounds that may help boost your immune system and even help fight certain cancers. They may improve gut bacteria balance, which can positively impact your immunity.
Apparently, you can also make some great Turkey Tail tea, have you ever drank that?
I would be curious if you had. Now that I know you can use it, then I shall go back and collect some.
I found these ones down by the river on some old dead logs, and am guessing that is a common place to find them.
Until next time, happy fungi hunting!
