But, people tend to slip up and sometimes, there are just too many coincidences.
There's been many times where I've been in deep debt and could've used some extra income and people have recommended me to create random alts to use the voting power in my disposal to self-vote with and I've kept telling them that, one mistake and your reputation is done. It's not worth it if you truly value Hive and its future. Even if you do it without getting caught it's something that'll stay in your mind all the time, what if you screwed up, what if someone will notice something you haven't thought of, what if Hive becomes so popular people start running AI tools to look through things, as you say everything is out in the open. Those who won't try to cheat and sneak around will be rewarded a lot more for their reputation later on, it's something that's going to become priceless. Those who do may profit short term but in the long run they'll eventually either make a mistake or get found out in one way or another or as I mentioned have to live with the fear of someone finding out eventually.
People need to understand to value their clean sheet. Just today I noticed a member in the community who not only was getting curated properly and welcomed by everyone both on chain and in the discord, but was growing really nicely from post rewards. Suddenly had a post in Leofinance that was straight up copy-paste. It just baffled me as to why. Why risk all that, break all trust forever and literally ruin your Hive journey. For what? Either they just don't know or really love living the risky life or are just self destructive. It's sad really, but I can't wait for more newcomers that won't go down that road and we can trust to invest our votes in them for the long haul.
