First of all, let me say this that you’re doing better and great than you think! Raising a child is not an easy task and often you might tend to break down from the hassle and unending demands and responsibilities that come with it, including doing all of these by yourself. If you’ve ever needed a little encouragement, or run out of ways to do it right, or maybe you just need a pat on the shoulder to be certain you’re doing the right thing, then here are some few advice that you can make do with as a single dad in 2022.
Outsource where necessary. You cannot do it all by yourself, but you can always get a helping hand. Taking out the bin, doing the laundry and dishes, general home cleaning etc. are example of chores you can outsource to create more time for you and your kid. Also, you don’t want to be worn out daily handling all the chores alone including your job routine which in most cases are tedious. When you create room for more time, caring becomes easy with more fun activities added to the timetable.
Get a timetable. Food menu, to do list, Alarms etc. they help you stay organized, keeping your priorities in check. Set alarms when necessary. You don’t want to realize 30 minutes after school hours that your kid is still in school waiting to be picked up. At this point in your life, you’re literarily managing other human lives as if they were yours, so you need to check all your to do boxes to deliver on the job. Deciding what meals to eat daily is hard enough, you want to look at your menu and go shop for ingredients you’ll need for the week without too many thoughts.
Answer their questions. The more kids grow, the more they become inquisitive. They want to know why their family is not like their friends with a mum and dad, most single dads shy away from answering this question, but you should let them know the reasons as early in their lives as possible. Assure them you’ll always be there for them, and they do not have to end up being single parents too. Create a strong bond and leave no space for curiosity which might lead them to asking outsiders. Think about what will happen when they’re fed with the wrong information, you don’t want that to happen.

Filling in for both mum and dad isn’t a walk in the park, I understand you’re doing a lot already but with the right advice like these, you’re going to pull through, here’s to becoming the best single dad in the world, cheers!
